Gee whiz, 90 mile bike to be stripped for parts? We sure WILL need a picture to rule out trollage. Sounds amazing. Where are you located? (I don't want the bike) it affects valuation.

it was stored in side I live in Wisc. last time it was licensed was 77 or 78

Sounds great! Still a lot of things to check before attempting to start it. How are your mechanical skills?
Any surface rust on the chrome? Rims? Paint?

The STORY behind so few miles will be interesting. Please, share with us. :?:

Lets have it!
PHotos please.

Sounds like that store room full of crates containing new commandos, that they found in Europe.

Pretty simple decision, if you have not longed for a 1st time Commando or had one you want more of again and just stumbled on this one - then sell it off now to someone that knows the loosing financial facts they're taking on for never ending Commando occupation. The more you put into a Commando the greater the loss of any return on investment to expect.

Speedo is the wrong one. So much for the 90 original miles. It's bad. This bike will take a lot of work and money. Worth about $2500 on a good day.

Looks to me like an '71 ex-hyRyder that retained the comfortable ape hanger bars but switched seat and tank to Roadster.

so sell the parts or whole cycle and get out fast.

No need to get out fast, as I expect there will be enough people interested in buying it for a reasonable price. Breaking it up to sell the parts off would be a tragedy.

(The bars are not Hi-Rider)

My opinion is to sell it as a whole and get out.
You'd have to clean alot of the parts to even get close to what it's worth as a whole.
Too much rust so most would have to be replaced.
That's just my opinion.

If you were out this way I'd offer $1500.00

Even if gotten free a crappy ole rust bucket will cost many $1000's and long hours of your own and others wrenching and machining so if wasting money you will never get back is worth the joys or sorrows of Commando life style, get out while still possible to get some money value out of it.

Do you WANT to own a Commando? or are you proposing fixing it to sell? what can you DO? (mechanical skills)

Fix it, fix it, fix it, I say, alot of work needed but think of all the fun you will have on the way and when finished that first ride, you be glad you did.
