Hi guys!
So many of you helped me get through my front to back semi restoration project on my 74 850 Norton Commando, back in the mid 2000's.
It was an adventure in labor and love with the invaluable experience of a global network of Norton lovers.
I bought this bike new in 1974 when I was a 20 year old sprite. If you do the math, that puts me in a demographic where it might be time to part with my old friend. Turns out, last summer was....well, my last summer. She has 9240 original miles, (long story).

I'm just wondering if any of you might have an idea what I should and could be asking for it. I live in rural Manitoba just outside of Winnipeg, Canada
I sure would appreciate any thoughts or opinions from you fellows. I just ask because so many of you know this stuff backwards and top to bottom and I will admit I'm quite out of the loop.

Down here in NZ I cannot really help you with your question. Here a good one goes for about NZ $25,000 but it is very much location and market dependant.

But what I would say is a one original owner bike with less than 10,000 miles is very unusual. Are you sure there isn't a family member even at distance it could go to.? It's what I would try to do.

Go to British Cycle Supply web site and look at the top banner for bikes for sale and you will get an idea whats being sold past and present. You could even advertise it there if you send them a Picture and discription.

Been keeping an eye on commando pricing in Canada. Seen as low as $5500 for a running but not road worthy to $23000 for concourse show winners.
Got my '74 in 2018, with 8k miles on clock. Was not nearly as nice as yours looks and needed quite a bit to make it road worthy and a reliable rider. I paid $7200. If selling it today, I'd think $12-15k would be my ask.

Thanks Tornado. Real solid starting info

I paid $10,000 Cdn . for my MK 111 here in Ottawa Canada , Trailer Queen for awards in Shows , but on startup she smoked badly so $18,000 more in she's a very reliable runner . Yours seems very original so ... $ 8,000 Cdn . ?? to sky's the limit . Rarity is very important to price .

Yes, the only changes I've made are going to electronic Ignition, and the tach (got busted up once upon a decade.... '89? )

I just sold a really nice 74 for 9500 us. It was a complete nut and bolt restoration. I also sold a 73 that was a complete mechanical restoration but had some cosmetic challenges for 6000 us. I'd say your bike is somewhere in between so maybe 7 to 8k US. There are lots of bikes priced higher but these are actual sales.

FYI, there is a buy & sell section on this forum if you want to attract non-local buyers.

The last rebuilt 850 I sold was a complete rebuild with about 100 miles since the rebuild. It was a 1974 black Roadster that looked 100% stock, sold Jan 2021. It was $13k US but then the buyer wanted a bunch of upgrades (cNw e-start and more) so the total was over $18k US.

You can see pictures here: https://www.gregmarsh.com/MC/Norton/Norton_1974.aspx

You have modifications that a buyer might want or might not want and your paint job looks nice but is not correct - might mean nothing or might turn a buyer off. I would ask 10k US and not let if go for less than 8k US. (Sorry, don't know in CAD) That assumes it runs and rides right, is clean, and there is no rust.

Commandos sell for stupid money on Bring a Trailer I hear - I've never used them.

A friend just sold his 74 850 on BAT for $12,500 US.
It was a bike that he put together from a $2000 Basketcase.
He was pretty careful (frugal) about the expenses on everything. Eg, it had an Indian tank , 3 or 400 bucks Inc paint.

He was ecstatic at the selling price.

Gentlemen...your thoughts and opinions were invaluable. I now have a pretty good idea what I have, what to ask, and where to ask it! Just for the heck of it, I'll let you know how and where it went. Thanks again!
Cheers

Check the range of prices.
I suggest you ask higher. The Market seems strong

Most of those prices seem high . Fishing for suckers ? From a fisherman .

In general, for old bikes and old cars, prices, actual selling prices, seem to be down. To be expected as we are not in flush
times and the boomers are thinking mobility scooters and push chairs....
Since 2018, all who have bought bikes from me were between 35 and 55 so at least in the US in my experience, they are not boomers and they don't haggle over price.
