Working on the principle that the Hemmings adjusters go on the left side (nearside) of the cradle I removed the L/H bush and was able to push the R/H side bush further into the tube by .060". It had been standing proud by .110" previously. This put the bush in a position that when the end cap was fitted with bronze washer and then the end collar there was no excess clearance on this side any longer. Previously when I fitted everything and tightened the Hemmings adjuster it had to pull the opposite side in by 1/16" to get the correct clearance for the vernier adjustment. Hope that makes sense.
I currently have it adjusted on the bench to .008". I will recheck when it is fitted to the bike.
