help please
I have just adjusted the front isolastic as it had no clearance and I always suspected it was tight
I now want to adjust the rear as I suspect it is tight as well
I have the vernier type isolastics fitted
my questions
can someone tell me if the rear is possible to adjust why fired to the bike and if so how
the dust boots are a tight fit and impossible to gain access
do I need to remove oil tank
do I remove centre bolt and jack up engine
I know this sound dumb but I am lost
the front was easy and I read rear is easy to adjust what am I missing thanks in advance

i'm pretty much a noob with minimal hands on, but here's my take on the subject.

not sure of your year and configuration, but I installed (AN) vernier kits on my 74. as I recall, the rear vernier adjustment was on the LH side of the bike, when I upgraded and replaced the iso mounts, my oil tank, battery tray, as well as most everything else, was removed from the bike so I had plenty of access. the gaiter-dust boots are an extremely tight fit and somewhat problematic to gain access the vernier. I didn't have to remove the center bolt or jack-up the engine. going out in the shop and looking at the bike fully assembled, a can't see how anyone could adjust the rear without removing the battery tray. if one has to remove the battery tray, i'm guessing you have to remove the tank. overall, i'm thinking adjustments are not user friendly task. I could be wrong in my thinking - as I said, noob w/o experience. maybe others can step in with better alternative methods. sorry....

You do not need to remove the oil tank, support the bike on the lower frame rails (not on the center stand) peel back the dust boot and measure the clearance while pushing the engine/gearbox cradle to the opposite side. Acces is ia bit fiddly indeed, but it is possible without removing oil tank or battery tray or any other component. Hope this helps.

The rear ones are awkward to adjust
I must admit I never set the clearance ,I adjust it until it's tight and back it off a little
Sounds like your rubbers have gone really hard?

"when fixed"? If so, then, yes the assembly needs to be in position for checking/adjustment.

Section F14.

the dust boots are a tight fit and impossible to gain access

The gaiters are, or should be soft 'rubber' so I don't understand that.

do I need to remove oil tank

No. Sounds as if the rear Iso. threaded adjuster could be on the right-hand side instead of the left although that shouldn't make it impossible to adjust?

do I remove centre bolt

No.

Edit: This is assuming it is the normal vernier adjuster and not the 'Hemmings' type vernier adjuster.

The Mk3 battery tray seems to have more clearance than the pre-Mk3 tray.
