EV drawbacks

In the oil rich state of Texas here in the U.S. of A. over 40% of power grid energy is renewable if you include nuclear with 34 % being wind and solar in 2022. Probably a good chance that number will continue to rise.

The London fire brigade have announced they attend a building fire every other day
That was started by ev scooters and bicycles being charged inside flats and houses
I guess people are not using the chargers correctly
Or the wrong batteries etc?

Or the reality of thievery collides with reality of the expense of electric vehicles.

I'm wishing sadique complete success with the ulez expansion on London
Hopefully everyone will replace their cars /motorcycles/vans etc immediately
Then the number plate recognition cameras will no longer be needed
And be removed
Saving tax payers money

"democratic" should be in quotes there...
Ok the people were asked to vote
The mayor gave his word he'd go with the majority
Then when it was voted against he went ahead anyway
He'd bought the cameras in April last year
Several months before the vote

Exaclty.

It was ANYTHING but "democratic"

The EU thing on internal combustion engines isnt all it seems to be... article in a (reputable) newspaper (Daily Telegraph) suggests that the engines will have to use an "e-fuel" derived from hydrogen.... so presumably a vast amount of electricity to be used in the process of 'making' hydrogen.

Tiptree?? I like their marmalade on my toast for breakfast....

Yesterday ... New Zealand

Huge flames' on Harbour Bridge after Tesla catches fire

Hmmmmmmm.... on facebook it's "The New Tesla Calendar" with a different Tesla fire for each month. If you scroll LEFT, it works.

Not funny to Tesla/owners, SICKENING to many, funny to others...

If you plan to go on a ferry then watch which car you park next to and make sure you know where the lifeboats are too.

In ro-ro ferries and PCTCs, ship designs pose further problems in an EV fire as low ceilings trap smoke and some decks are made of aluminium which can easily melt and deform in a lithium-ion battery fire.

Tightly packed vehicles are a feature of both ro-ros and PCTCs, which limits access for crew and fire fighters, especially as any responders approaching an EV fire would need be carrying air tanks on their backs and wearing breathing apparatus.

Adrian Scales, Director of Nautical, Brookes Bell recalled his own experience attempting to run a fire hose on a loaded ro-ro deck during a training exercise. Tight gaps on all sides between vehicles led to multiple 90 degree turns as he and his colleagues weaved between cars, and progress was slow in the bulky and restrictive breathing gear, he said.
