I purchased a set of so to speak 2nd hand Epco commando pea shooters off ebay this week.
They are still avail in limited quanity. The distributor is stainless333 and out of Miami, FL.
They arrived yesterday via UPS. They are absolutely gorgeous and I couldn't find a visible flaw.
They are seamless and have smooth lines. Straight through w/ baffles attached to side walls like orig's.
They were packaged in Latin America and came in their own individual dust sock. Box marked Epco
not a repack.
I can not wait to install and enjoy them.
Anybody in the market for Epco stainless mufflers better snap em up.
I would not spend 400.00 plus for an exhaust system but $175.00 for the pair put them competatively
close to the middle of the road quality chrome mufflers avail.
Wassel and Toga would have been my choice. They would have been $200.00 plus for a pair.
This just looked like it was a no brainer so I ponyed up the $ and grabbed a set.
My orig. mufflers are ok but show signs of aging.
Just wanted to let everyone know that they' re really a great deal.
Sellers feedback is 100% and everyone else is extremely satisfied w/ their mufflers.
The BMW guys have been morphing the airhead into an interstate commando variation w/ peashooters
for some time now according to their forum most of themused Epco peashooters.

I have Wassells on my Commando and, yes, Epco peashooters on my airhead. The Wassells are nice, but the Epcos blow them away. $175 for a set of the Epcos is a steal.

I have had a set of Epperson's mufflers on my Interstate for many years. They look as good today as they did when I put them on. The only complaint I have is they do not have a straight sleeve at the clamp end. This causes clearance problems with the kickstarter. A change to a Mk3 kicker took care of that.
They made a set of Dunstall Dr. Blair pipes for one of the guys here locally, so if you are interested in a set of those, you might give them a call.

Thanks for the comments.
I have switched to a Mk 3 kicker after installing new down pipes.
Can't wait to enjoy em.

Is "pea shooter" another way of saying reverse cone or are they late 60s Triumph Bonneville style.

I placed a bid. My current mufflers are ok, but these stainless at a low price will be good to have.

you'll be blown away how nice they are so bid to win as their reserve is actually low.
May not come upon such an offer for a long time to come

Wonder if they will get the yellowing that occurs with stainless pipes? I have a stainless downpipe and muffler on one of my Matchless singles (Dutch Army bike) and the whole thing turns a golden shade which isn't all that bad to look at but some may not like it. It will polish out with a lot of elbow grease but it is no fun!

We still gotta get that ride in Marshall.... Now we can make a Fall foliage ride.

Hey Russ,
I too have heard on a triumph or bmw forum of their stainless steel down pipes turning
but they did not speak about the mufflers so I guess i'll report back when I get em installed.
Fall ride would be most welcome.

Why snap them up? Or is that simply since they were a good price on evilbay? Epco still sells them direct as far as I know. I simply rang them up on the phone last year and bought a set. Stan from Rocky Point Cycle sells epco too.

When stainless turns that brownish colour, a good polish will bring back the lustre. Try that with chrome.

Coco,
May I jost w/ you?
I suggested that other Nortoneers snap em up while the 2nds are avail.
I know at any given time and place I can fork out $400.00 for a set of mufflers at full retail price.
But for the prices Epco's are selling on ebay, I just had to pass it on.
You obviously have had a bad buying or selling experience(s) w/ ebay.
It has always been buyer be AWARE and that applies to any selling vehicle including
Craigslist. I don't think you can get a prostitute on ebay?
I'm very happy saving some $ in this economy.

I got it. I wasn't sure if you were talking about cheaper ebay pipes being snapped up or if Epco was discontinuing manufacture of Commando pipes. I have always had pretty decent luck with ebay but I'd rather buy from classifieds here or other boards to preven ebay from making money as they really do nothing for us.

Will those Epco mufflers fit a 75 850 Commando Interstate? My original black bean cans are falling apart.
I don't see any factory seconds for Norton on Ebay now. Thanks for the great info!
Cheers

check oldbritts.com site.
he has modified brackets for replacing bean cans w/ 74 and earlier style pea shooters
than the Epcos will fit.
Hope some are left for you

I had no problem fitting reverse cones from the earlier Commandos on my Mark 3 years ago. Just a little cutting of the parallelogram mounting bracket if I recall, no cutting of the frame. I am bidding on the Epcos and I think they will fit just the same.
