morning !
I'm working on a p11a and was wondering if there is a diagram/description as to where the spacers go ? mine was a sorry state when i got it with loose/missing studs and spacers so am not entirely sure what goes where ?

thanks for reply in advance
andy

There is a PDF for the spacers and studs on the Yahoo P11 site. I am not sure if you need to join to get access to the file. If you have issues I can see what I can dig up latter.
Cheers,
Thomas

Andy,
here is the Norton/Matchless P11 website out side of the one here.

This one (Access Norton) seems to be more active so you can poke around all the different threads in this P11 section.
I didn't write this but here is something I pulled off the internet:
Concerning spacers on P11;
1)Top rear engine plates to frame-spacer located between timing side plate and frame (2 mounting bolts-2spacers)-width-.150
2)Bottom rr. eng. plate to frame-spacer located between timing side plate and frame (2mounting bolts-2 spacers)-width-.150
3)Top trans. bolt-located between trans. case and timing side plate-width.145
4)Bottom trans. bolt-located between trans. case and timing side plate-width-.15
5)Top front engine plate to frame/crankcase bolt-between frame lug and front engine plate timing side-width .150
6)As above, but between plate on drive side and frame lug. width .400
7)Bottom front engine plate-located between frame and drive side engine plate-width-.175
8)Top rear crankcase-located between drive side rear plate and crankcase-width-.350
9)Mid rear crankcase-located between drive side rear plate and crankcase-width-.150
10)Bottom rear crankcase-located between drive side plate and crankcase-width-.160
Hope I didn't miss any! Have 3 of them here and wisely left one assembled for reference. The widths are approximate-from what I can gather they may have varied from bike to bike anyway-at any rate they are within 10 thou. +or-. Hope this helps.-Glenn
You will find the spacer file in the Yahoo but you will have to join to see it and then down load the file. I have the file on my computer. It is just that I don't know how to send it as an attachment.

Cheers,
Thomas

Hi.
Andover sells the complete set of spacers and studs for engine and gearbox.
The set arrive with an easy description where the spacers go.
Good luck.

Has anyone tried these numbers for spacers? My P11 was nothing close to this. Actually, My P11 has been molested for years and now I would like to get it right. Please let me know if this actually is correct?

My P11 was Soo out of wack I decided to order the spacer/stud kit from Andover. I'm surprised the bike ran. No wonder that the engine was like new internally.

I believe pre-commando is 1:1, Commando 2:1.

OOPS! Have no idea how I put this on this thread, or what happened to the thread I was responding to....Monday morning fog, Alzheimers....

hi thomas , ive fianally got round to putting my motor and box together in the frame , is the spacer arrangement the same on p11 and p11a ? the parts book lists a different spacer arrangement for the gearbox ?
thanks in advance
andy

I don't see any different spacer arrangement, both the top fixing bolt and the bottom pivot stud each take a P/N 030250 (7/8 X 0.150 X 7/16) spacer. This is listed for both P11 and P11A in the '67-'68 parts book and the '66,'67,'68 parts book. The only difference I find is the '67 P11 parts book omits the spacer on the lower pivot stud. However, it will not line up properly without this spacer.

evening gents ! i put the motor an box in this afternoon , went with the andover norton info sheet and the two 03-0250 gearbox spacers and all good ! i have to tighten everything up fully , probs monday , but all looked well as i left it.

cheers
andy

Andy,
I have a late P11 Ranger but I think they should all be the same for the engine/gearbox spacers. I see you have everything in control. ;)

Thomas

hi , motor and gearbox all in now , had a wrestle with the side stand but thats done now , just waiting for a spacer/stud ( 03-3120 ) between the inner chaincase and engine plate to arrive in the post so i can continue , dont suppose anyone has one to hand and can give me some dimensions ?
so i can make it instead of waiting for the postman ?

My first attempt to post a pdf file to this forum.

P11 studs and spacers.

Looks like it worked. I had the pdf saved on my computer and just attached like a photo to the post.

I am missing this front plate spacer, substituted washers, but want to order the correct spacer. The listed number from the hand written list is 031589 and I ordered, but after looking other references this 031589 is a 2" long muffler spacer.

What is the correct number for this 5/16" bore spacer?

Thanks

engine/gearbox spacers ?

03-1589 is the correct part number. Walridge has this incorrectly listed as the exhaust spacer on their inventory listing. It can be found on the Andover Norton site.

You guys using this engine/tranny spacer list owe a debt of gratitude to Dean Nissen of HyCam. He put this together many years ago.
