Early centre stand

NEED HELP
I have a Commando S but it came without a centre stand ,which i have now fitted.
Tne spring has a large coil one end a small coil the other.
I assume the large end fits around the cross brace of the stand
but can't find where the small end fits .
It is a repo stand .
