kernel65 said:Any idea about the specs on the "Norton" script as in this pic? Length or models of bike that used this particular decal?
texasSlick said:I 'm thinking the factory must have used a silk screen technique to apply both the stripe and the Norton script.
kernel65 said:Are there any references to the actual stripe dimensions? I'm guessing not especially if done by hand. Any input for the appropriate landmarks to begin the stripe in the front or end it near the rear is appreciated. The contour of the tank along the upper portions can help guide that portion.

I don't actually know.kernel65 said:Is the pinstripe on your manx style tank a decal or hand painted?
The red pin stripe was very fine.kernel65 said:Approximately how wide is proper for the red stripe?

Well yes, a lot of Nortons over many decades had a factory paintjob of silver with the black and the fine red pinstripe.
But the featherbed tank example shown here is not a factory job.
Its an owners version of it.
This is the tank for my cafe wideline.
Its fibreglass though, so probably destined to sit on the shelf forever (?).
I bought it like that, its a copy of the popular manx shape tank paint scheme.
The black is about 7/8" and the red pinstripe is thicker than it should be..
