I know this has been covered before but struggling to find, I think LAB posted some advertising but struggl8ng to find it.
I’m about to have my tank and side panels painted.
It’s a mix of roadster side panels and interstate tank.
I believe the stripes are about 3mm and the gap the same.
Any help will be appreciated.

Many thanks

I suggest you make absolutely sure your painter/pinstriper knows which end of the side cover is the front or the stripes could end up reversed like in these two examples.

CnW used this reversed side cover pin striping on a couple of builds. I liked it and used it on my '74 Roadster along with reduced size letter graphics painted on by Brent Budgor of Vintage Vendor.

I like that approach and the silver and black are such a classic blend. But that's the first bike I've seen that uses both the solo set and the grab rail and I have to admit I like that as well. Would not have thought to do that but now I am in the market.

Keep in mind that if you get real specific about width and/or spacing you're painter will probably do a tape job rather than a hand pinstriping job (assuming they even do hand pinstriping). IMHO, if you trust the painter, show him a picture of what you want, not a bunch of numbers. On an 850 tank, the difference in hand and tape is glaring.

Greg,
I don’t understand what you mean by glaring.
Thanks,Mike

I use tape, but only to mask & spray.
They'll never look exactly like a hand-lining job, but I'm not going to lose any sleep over it!

I have two 74 Trident tanks. From 20 feet away you can tell which is hand pinstriped and which is an excellent tape job. In truth, many will prefer the tape job but if you want perfection then you must have imperfection.

On a Norton Roadster tank, no matter how perfectly hand striped, if you look at the rear where the stripes turn into one, the overlapping is clear but with tape it never is.

Beautiful job, incorrect but I like it better than correct. Twin lines became single lines too soon based on the original tanks I've had. In other words, appealing is in the eyes of the beholder. I'm not against tape, I was just pointing out that once you start measuring, tape is pretty much a requirement.

The handpainted stripes have a unique made by human look that a pinstripe could never replicate unless it was made with random wavy edges. Strangely at 5 or 6 feet they look better.

It's 100% correct to the bike I copied - thank you VERY much.
Only kidding ;)
There's so much variation it's impossible to say what's correct or not in this regard.
I've seen the double stripes taken all the way to the back, lots somewhere in-between, but I liked the one I copied best :)

Yep, humans didn't even do them exactly the same tank to tank. There's an old video somewhere of several people sitting in chairs striping Triumph tanks one after the other - the entire process took around 60 seconds - no measuring going on. Here are two guys at Royal Enfield doing it:

I clear-coated encapsulated my original paint and stripes to preserve them forever.
