Who you calling a dip switch? :x
Seriously though, taking apart the left hand switch cluster on my 73 750 to sand/polish the aluminum, and when i took out the guts i had little metal ball come out, didn't see exactly where it was.
so first off, should that be in there!?
second, the high beam switch, is that just a two position switch? does that ball keep it from going to the down position?
lastly, where does that ball belong? on top of the spring for the high beam switch seemed to be the obvious answer to me but i didn't want to assume and couldn't find any info

Gen'ly the little ball used in a motorcycle switchgear is the detent mechanism... look for a spring, and a pocket it goes in. YES, it belongs in there.

You are right - it is a two position switch. Mine is on the left and up is hi beam. Middle is hi beam off and it doesn't go down. There is a momentary pushbutton above it to flash the hi beam.
