Putting Cush rubbers in the hub... What direction should I install thick side to load? forward tire direction...
or the opposite direction that it is now

Also I don't know if there is a trick other than taking the hub off to set in the new rubbers... Then putting it back in as 1 unit

Installing soap and trying to push it on is just isn't cutting it

We had a big response a couple of weeks ago when we reviled the bike at Daytona...
Just sucked we had a oil tank leak that we had to repair

With the drive lug at 12:00 the thicker rubber would be to the front for it to push on ?
You might have better luck with rubber grease.

I presume you meant "revealed" ?

+1 on rubber grease. If you don't have any, Vaseline. Put the rubbers in with nothing on them. Make sure they are all going the correct direction (easy mistake to make). Push them as far apart as possible. Then grease them well. Carefully line everything up and push HARD.

I have never been able to push the wheel on when installing new rubbers - it's just too tight regardless of what kind of lubricant. I use a couple of bar clamps on the hub/brake drum to pull the wheel into place. After the wheel's been on the bike/in use for a while, if I need to remove it I can then get the wheel on without using the clamps.

Try fitting wheel without speedo gearbox, this gives you a little extra space. If it goes on, then chock wheel and remove spindle. Refit speedo gearbox and spindle.
