I’m very well prepared and trying hard to follow all the rules being laid out by our Chief Medical Officer .... guess I was referring to the image you cast yourself in on this forum , like a scared old guy with no voice anymore , sadly your rants and self congratulations sound eerily similar to the President you so obviously dislike .... I was asking for more civility from all , in my first post and you took it as a shot across your bow and reacted again just as the guy you speaking out against endlessly ,?also in my first post I had hoped some would realize they were getting carried away , I try hard these days not to “tilt at too many windmills” ... sure hope you can understand this once you get your fears under control , I sure would not want to be you right now , good luck

I can stand toe to toe with anyone and argue, and so can my son. He is an engineer in the construction industry and had his heart attack at age 43. I had a double by-pass op and three strokes after I retired.

The only way what you suggest can exist and be successful is for workers to have an equal power as owner/management. have. Can’t work otherwise. History has shown the only way a balance of power between worker and owner/management can be achieved is through collective bargaining. There are a few examples of a benevolent ownership, but they are rare.

Wouldn't a big voice at a shareholder meeting be enough power ? - Who would be telling whom ?

Trump is only the leader. All he has to do is be there, look pretty and make a decision when it is needed. Good or bad, any decision will do - as long as he maintains societal tension to stop the system dissolving into chaos.

Jim C - Would you prefer I post your thoughts? Your query is not the most intelligent question I’ve been asked.

So you're not bright enough to answer it then ?

The rate of increase of infected cases is decreasing in most other countries, yet the the rate of increase in the US is still increasing. Obviously, we are not doing what’s necessary to bring this virus to heel. Isolation, at the present time, is about the best and only weapon available. Idiotic governors like the governor of Mississippi, people congregating to show their defiance of government, and plain stupidity are the cause of the ever increasing rate of infection in the US.

Oh, my! I guess you own this thread AND are now the forum moderator.

In both left and right of politics, there is a spectrum from people who are money-motivated and individualistic to those who are socialist and altruistic. During this crisis, we are seeing evidence of both ends of that spectrum.

I would substitute greed for money motivated and anti government for individualistic.

Rather ironic how those who were/are so anti-socialist are so in favor of their stimulus check or business bailout money.

Better me than you.

How about, “Maybe you (acotrel) should start a labor thread?

Jim, In Australia, some have said 'they are all the same as each other' to make some things seem not as bad. I'm currently reading a book about a power broker in the right wing of the Labor Party. It os real hoot. Our Liberal Party is also right wing. In the US, it must be a quantum leap worse. Communists are small fry.

A lot of Americans make no distinction between socialism and communism. While they deign socialism they happily cash their SOCIAL SECURITY check, send their kids to public schools, enjoy driving on public roadways, to name a few things socialism provides.

Thank you for your kind and CIVIL remarks.

I was thinking of how things were 40 years ago. Today, consumers have fewer choices when it comes to domestic made vs China. I see men’s sneakers sold here are overwhelming made in China. Personally, I buy SAS and Danner shoes. Some Danners are imports. Not found in my closet.

Jim,Its an interesting question how things were 40 years ago.. In the UK there were hardly any Chinese goods of any description.. And in the space of 40 years it has become the worlds second biggest economy and AC it will probably be the biggest. But go back 45 or50 years the Japanese were caning US industry and there would have been a strong case for protective tarrifs.Little was said or done. But now its all too late and whilst there have been claims of Chinese copyright infringement ,surely nothinglike the gross violations of wto rules of which Japan was guilty.

I never considered a difference of opinion in politics, in religion, in philosophy, as cause for withdrawing from a friend

-Thomas Jefferson

JFK famously and pointedly said to some dinner guests there hadnt been such a collection of talent in the White House since Jefferson had dined there ...alone.

Tariffs are imposed to protect the consumer from his/her own harmful tendency. The tendency to eat their young, so to speak. I would be in favor of confiscating the money and real estate of any US company that moves it’s manufacturing offshore. Also, barring those companies from US markets.

Whatever Obama did or did not do is of little consequence today. What DOES matter is the president today. Donald Trump has demonstrated complete and total incompetency, a penchant for not telling the truth and a total disinterest in science, data and facts.

Trump got a tax cut for the wealthy and business. The conservatives got two Supreme Court justices. Looks like it is end for those things. The current crisis will hamstring Trump for the remainder of his presidency. Hopefully, for the good of the country and the rest of the world, he is defeated in November.

BTW, xbacksideslider, did you know Obama killed Lincoln, kidnapped the Lindbergh baby and masterminded the Watergate burglary ? Are you still sending money to Orly Taitz?

I disagree with you JC. First, Obama's total lack of response to Ferguson, Baltimore and Dallas lead to the huge racial divide we see today.

I'm neither wealthy or a business owner however I was very happy to see a tax cut and I know a lot of hard working people who received the same. I do know that we as a nation, have never been in a better position for an onslaught as huge as this Corona pandemic and for that, I give credit to Mr. Trump. Trumps placement of two Supreme Court judges shows all the travesty, utter contempt and depth of corruption of our nations elected officials have endorsed. I sleep so well every night, knowing I'll wake up to Trump as my president and not Hillary.

To your last point of Lincoln, Lindbergh and Watergate. You are much to angry with TDS to debate with.

In my opinion you should clear your kitchen of anything sharp. You could do serious harm to yourself.

Every Trump supporter I know is either a racist, a homophobe (sometimes both) or incapable of intelligent thinking. Which is your affliction? All three?

Just saw a video taken two weeks ago, but was shown today. The video was of a Detroit city bus driver complaining of people riding the bus, coughing without covering their mouth. The driver contracted COVID-19 and died yesterday.
