I could care less whether someone disagrees with me. Most of the disagreements on this thread have been partisan. Partisan politics always bring about sharp elbows. Pointing out a particular politician’s lies, incompetence and immorality is not being partisan. Stating facts is not being partisan. Quoting a politician’s previous statements is not being partisan. Now, wanting to kick the shit out of a particular partisan is partisanship.

Some of my views of politicians and political parties has, no doubt, been shaped by my life’s experiences. In particular, my having severed as a labor lobbyist in California. A 2 year stint in the Capitol, Sacramento, CA. brought me up close to politics and politicians.

Back to CORONAVIRUS.

Many mayors, governors and healthcare professionals are begging for help. Yet Trump continues to do little to address their pleas. Instead he continues to denigrate those who disagree with him. Gives himself self congratulatory high marks for his performance. Challenge one of his falsehoods and you go to the back of the que. Every hour that is nonproductive in regards to this pandemic means maybe 1,000 deaths today, 10,000 deaths next week.

Viewing this thread and forum is strictly voluntary.

You read me wrong if you think I’m in fear of COVID-19. Respect yes, fear no. Do I foolishly expose myself to the virus? NO!

I do not suffer fools gladly.

This particular thread has NOTHING to do with Nortons, motorcycles or bikers, for that matter.

Sounds familiar. Isn't a bully pulpit a wonderful thing? Let's see what his next hot button topic will be with an identical theme. I so much
want to say STFU, but that wouldn't be polite and respectful. Flame suit on and sitting at the big boy table.

I do have a grip on this. Unlike some, I’m not about to bury my head to avoid recognizing this pandemic. Is that what you suggest? Seems to me that’s you are doing and are disturbed when someone brings it to your attention.

So Jim C, what do you hope to achive by posting your thoughts on Access Norton?

Yes, I know, trying to get higher wages, better health care, safer working conditions for workers is probably an anathema to the likes of you.

Adversarialism is silly stuff. There are ways that the top and bottom of businesses can become pointed in the same direction, but if they happened many politicians would not have a job. The ISO9000 management manual can be written so that the guys on the shop floor can self-manage. Employee share ownership and productivity gain sharing can assist the reward system. All that is then needed is major goal setting from the top. Workers and their unions would have access to shareholder meetings - that would handle the industrial democracy aspect, and we might all become more genuine.

Would you prefer I post your thoughts? Your query is not the most intelligent question I’ve been asked.

I was a middle manager scientist in large engineering businesses for most of my working life. I sometimes had to face the unions, however I have always recognised that the unions are a legitimate expression of industrial democracy and must be heard. Employee suggestion schemes are usually bullshit. In one factory in which I worked the General Manager was a union rep. and did not recognise his conflict of interest. In any given situation, there must always be a balance between democracy and control. As a leader, I never felt threatened when I empowered the guys under me, because I worked systematically to manage the risks and I made sure the guys knew the system.

I was invited by our largest construction union, to go and work for them. The politics involved in doing that are horrendous and dangerous. I would not go there in a pink fit.

The only way what you suggest can exist and be successful is for workers to have an equal power as owner/management. have. Can’t work otherwise. History has shown the only way a balance of power between worker and owner/management can be achieved is through collective bargaining. There are a few examples of a benevolent ownership, but they are rare.
