Corbin designs the seat to fit a bike's style, rather than to fit the human anatomy.

I guess people's anatomy differs. IMHO, the Corbin spreads weight evenly (supporting my hip bone). The stock seat presses on my prostate badly after the stock foam compresses. :(

I have had the Gunfighter on my 850 Mk-II for 7-8 years. When I got it out of the shipping box my first impression was that it was very HEAVY and that it was very hard. I discovered that due to the shape of the seat that the hard foam is actually quite comfortable for me and I have found it comfortable for rides that last all day. It holds you solidly in a proper riding position and the bum stop shape keeps me from sliding around under the massive acceleration available... Unfortunately the heavy part will always be with you and weight is the arch enemy of a motorcycle.

I definitely agree with the weight aspect. That is an area I'd like to see improved. There is no reason for a simple seat to be that heavy! I suspect it is because they have been so heavily into the Harley market for so long, and excess weight seems to be seen as a positive in that world, so they have simply never thought about it.

Ive had Corbin on BMW K1200lt and Honda GL1800, both bikes I did SaddleSore 1000. If you never think about the seat, its a good one. Hated it on my '03 R1150GS.

When I bought a Gunfighter for my Mk3 a few years ago, they offered to shave .5 inches from each side. This factory mod produced a seat that fit me perfectly and addressed one of the few complaints heard about this seat (too wide).

I had a Corbin on my bike for several years. It was quite comfortable but I had to ride sitting somewhat forward, it was too wide if I sat with my butt against the bumstop with rearsets. With stock pegs or if I were a few inches taller it would probably have been okay. If I'd had it modified like yours I imagine it would have helped too.

The vinyl cover started to come apart so I switched to an Old Britts dualseat with a bumstop. It's about as comfortable, seems more durable, and looks more period-correct to my eyes.

Yes sometimes the Corbin seats are too wide, I've had had my seat modified and good experience dealing with then.

I was wondering what are some of the views on the Corbin seat. Ive had a few in past on other bikes, the comfort worked well on some and not so with others.
What about height, higher, lower or same as stock seat. I own a 1975 MK3

Like the Corbin on my Commando a lot. Just the right amount of support for me (220 lbs). I have had Corbin seats on three bikes including a 1996 Triumph Thunderbird, 1974 Norton Commando, and 2008 Moto Guzzi 1200 Sport. All have been great. HUGE improvement over the stock seats IMO. Corbin wasn't quite right on the Commando with stock footpegs and Euro bars. Now I have Euro bars and rearsets and it is much more comfortable.

I much prefer the Old Britts racing seat. Corbins feel too wide. The Old Britts seat is just right. Jim

The more I ride with the Corbin, the less I like it to be honest.

The most comfortable position for me is forward of the bum stop which is too wide for my narrow frame/ass back there.

I'm not a large chap, being 85kg and 178cm. The seat might be more comfortable for a bigger rider with more padding as I find it quite hard.

Corbin seat opinion

Corbin makes fine saddles, seats are a matter of opinion. They are made to fit a butt in a fashion not unlike a saddle supporting your cheeks to spread the weight of your body across a larger area. I've had their seats/ saddles on my Triumph S3, Ducati ST bikes, and a Ducati 998 and a DR650. For those of us who are a bit short in leg length I think the seat can pinch or put pressure on the lower thigh. Seating position in relationship to pegs and handlebar reach and height is also Huge factors in comfort. I've found softer seats tend to put pressure on my perenium (spelling wrong here but rant for us hillbillies) causing major discomfort for me in a short period of time.

IMO a firmer seat that spreads the load and in junction with bar and peg position is the best method for a long haul. In the pic w/ the roadster It appears to me that the dearest configuration with the Corbin appears to be a tough ride on the things...

Will the Corbin seat fit on an Interstate out of the box, or is modifying necessary.

At one time the interstate version was only available through CNW, not sure what the position is now.
I had one and it looked to me that it was the roadster one with the front trimmed off, which was good as it sat the rider well forward for an interstate.
I sold mine on as despite the nice rider positioning i found it uncomfortable on longer rides.
My seat wasn't a great fit against the tank and i have heard that tank variations make that a bit of an issue.

I think you will find that Corbin no longer sell Interstte seats 'off the shelf' due to there being many variations in tank dimensions.

Matt at CNW does them, but he needs your tank to ensure the seat is a good match. He takes a Roadster seat and custom fits it to your Interstate tank. As you can imagine, with this much work involved, it is not a cheap option.

Matt has recently done one for me, my tank is rough and not yet painted up, but mocked up on the bike with the Corbin seat, it looks really good.

In fact, in many ways, I'd say the Corbin is better on an Interstate than a Roadster. The big tank puts a whole new perspective on the seat, which therefore looks small on the Interstate. Also, the long tank and shortened seat mean you really are kinda 'held in place' as a rider.

But, I haven't ridden it in this configuration yet, so cannot comment on comfort.
