Was that Les dancing on the table? Frightening what a drop of alcohol can do to a moderate man!

I'll send you the cash, what's left of it anyway after I've paid my monthly forum subscription.
It sure costs a lot to keep in touch with your Commando buddies. $3.50 a month! I could buy a coffee for that!!
Just.

We'll be in Scotland around mid next year so get a sidecar on the 750 and we'll use it as a golf buggy.

No probs,
I'm used to sleeping in the backyard, but it gets hot in summer. I pinched this photo out of the Commando on Fire topic when they weren't looking.

The drinks are on you tonight, just had a word with J.R and he has just confirmed my barrels are scrap, so that's another bag of sand down the Swanee river for new pots and them piston things. Time to get the harmonica out and the workshop dog on a piece of string and head up sauchiehall street for the busking.

Anybody want to buy a helmet?

I'm always good for another helmet. I've only got another six out in the shed. Three of these came with the outfit.

Ref comfort on commandos.

Due to the rotundness of my face but medium sized skull , I have always had my helmets fitted by Valerie at N.H.M , but I only learned recently that she has retired. She had totally dead pan sarcastic humor and always looked on ,totally disinterested no mater how many lids you tried on, anyway sorry got off thread there.
Anyway highlander " there can be only one..........that fits , Arai......the last lid you will ever wear. Although the "boys" call me rude names for wearing a full facer on a commando , I will wear mine with pride!

750' engine ready for boyer fitment.

These are pax helmets. My personal helmet is an open face job with no visor and a big crack running the full longitudinal length at top. It has no straps as I cut them when stealing it from the kids down the road using it for billy cart racing. I siliconed the crack to avoid head wetting. The silicone does nothing for my bed wetting though.

Your engine looks good. Whatsa boora and wats it do?

ps you are missing a cap on the silva bit.

Phil

I bet L.A.B could tell what pistons are in that by the photo.

But in all seriousness the " silver bit " you say is missing, I know it's missing , you knicked it , I want it back. That was about as funny as when you swapped all the plug leads round on my v12.

I'm back at work in a fortnight.

Les could tell you where those pistons were made and by who. Assuming you have any in there. Might be like ton up tosser's bike collection, a figment of the imagination. Never even seen the lad, let alone what he purports to own!

I'll send your cap back grumpy, I've enjoyed having it on the key ring. I'm going racing tomorrow in the outfit with Mary in the chair, wish us luck.

There are more than a few Highlands ladies reading this forum (they say it is far more interesting than TV) and all report Les comes across as a real "hottey". Quiet, intelligent and always willing to offer help. With a very subtle sense of humour. It's my job to work out how to pair them up, at least for a trial. I've never failed at anything before. Not about to start failing with anything now.

Was talking to one of the big wheeler boys about your outfit and how you were enjoying it. He is planning to make a r100 rs think 1980 into a road outfit. He was asking what you had, said I wasn't sure. They are racing at Darnley moor next weekend ,not Gary though he is waiting for a new hip after their smash at the T.T. 2013. He thinks he'll be ok with three wheels as he can't really stop too well on account that he is fcuked up, but he is truly mental on a bike, broke his back also three month with no feeling in his legs ,that was on a triumph bonneville. Anyway he says he'll take you out for a spin when your over in 2015 .

Happy days J

Mine is a 1984 R65 with Inder rocket chair. This is a light weight unit or rig and yes it is exceptional fun, especially chair in the air cornering (left handers, same as for you). The R65 has one of the most cammy engines I've experienced, and very smooth. I would have thought a Commando frame would not handle a chair but hobot had photos of some. But to me, Commandos are like temperamental race horses that need constant attention. Beemers just tend to go and go and I'd hop on mine tomorrow and ride to Perth just to have a beer with olChris.

Any chance your mate might kill himself before I get to Scotland?

There is every chance he might not be on his feet , when he had the Bonny accident the bike was on top of him and the impact and weight of the machine pushed bits out his backside and they had to be put back in,he was bleeding out his back passage for over a year I believe.he told me he thought he was going to die.

Anyway here's a CNW outfit

I will confess, I NEVER get on the back of a bike with anyone. Maybe a sidecar? Probably not either. Been around too long to have some bastard kill or maim me.

Beemers are a beautiful motorcycle. Not Nortons but special in their own right. A great machine as a rig. Fitting a chair to a Commando would not cut it for me. It would be like tying a thoroughbred to a fence. Commandos are for riding as a solo machine in my view.

And my view is always right. Just ask me! :)

Get on the back of a bike with him. No , that would not be a good idea phil. Stick to being your own pilot mate, that's my motto anyway,

Regarding the Commandos, no way will anyone ever ride one of them anyway. I definitely don't allow that. They are too precious a machine to let be ridden by anyone else. I still haven't swapped the 18" rear to the 19", just haven't had time. I have yesterday received two head steadies from Jim Comstock so will be fitting those to the bikes in due course. I've got parts building up in the study at a great rate with a bunch more on their way from Matt at CNW. Mittagong Smash Repairs do excellent paint jobs so they will be spraying front and rear guards for me in candy apple. Then there is some chroming to do etc etc. There is enough to keep me occupied for a long long time. And plans for a 6 metre by 6 metre garage to house the machines. Going to be nearly as big as the friggin house!!

Nice to know your on your last helmet, I plan to wear out a few more. I was told once that your helmet should not be more than 10 years old. If you have a $1.00 head then by all means use a $1 helmet.
Happy Nortoning, BTW I would like to ride a Norton round Scotland. Never had time with my BAND on any of my other trips. regards, Dereck

I personally wouldn't give you 50 cents for my head. It is a waste to put a good helmet on it. But I do have an Arai there somewhere. My simple open facer I use just running around locally and can leave it on the bike without fear of getting pinched. Then I have a better open facer with intercom for country rides with madam on the back. I don't much like wearing full face helmets. Might be safer but I feel somewhat claustrophobic. I've heard all the arguments but I just don't like em. Hot bloody things in summer too. I originally had a wooden half crown, but wouldn't want to wear that now. It is probably lying somewhere delaminated. Just like my head!!

What I ment by that was if your ever needin a bike you can have a lend of my 69, as phil would say it's had a cockortwo screwing her round the twisties, so one more makes no nevermind, if it breaks , you just fix it.
