The Mighty Garage channel on YouTube just released a new series showing the Colorado Norton Works electric starter installation. It’s a four part series and they will be released weekly so be sure to subscribe so you’ll know when the next episode is out. It’s astounding that for the exact same price as the Alton you get such high quality and a belt drive too.

I installed my CNW Starter kit 3 years ago. Love it. That odd part he couldn't ID was a new vent for the crankcase with a bent hose to clear the starter. All of this is well thought out.

I think it’s in a later video that he notes he doesn’t have the stock breather and instead has the NYCN/Comstock sump breather which routes differently. And some of us unbox before reading the instructions.

I hope he adjusts the belt before fitting the starter ! I turned my extra adjuster backwards and removed some of the ‘chain guard’ from the back face of the primary to allow spanner (wrench) access. Tight, but doable.

The stock breather pipe should be replaced with the angled one prior to installing the starter. DAMHIK.

Two more episodes, not to give anything away.

Yes. I did the same. No room there to adjust it the way it is mounted.

Clever trick with the long sockets Swoosh... but I don’t think he’ll be able to do that with the starter motor in place...

When I installed my dual adjuster I didn't think of accessing it while the primary is installed. In retrospect, I should have angled it up a bit more to be able to get a socket on it.

But the rear lock nut would still be impossible to get a wrench on.

You don’t need to. You set the belt before you put the starter on and then you never touch it again. But you knew this.
