When I bought my bike last January, it came with a center stand. I bought the hardware for it a while back, and it attached it, no problem. However, I cannot find a location to attach the spring to the frame. I have the correct year spring to match the frame, I think.

wrench

Wrench, the spring seems to mount on the inside of the right side tranny cradle. There is a small hole where the end of the spring fits in.

I just ran out to the shop here at work to look at my bike. Good thing I checked because my centre stand bolts ar loose......AGAIN!

I just tigtened them last week, and I am not even riding the bike. They seem to loosen just from moving the bike around the shop.

Coco did you mean the inside of the left side of the (tranny) cradle?

As that is where it ought to be on your MkIII.

Coco, The nuts should not be loosening but they will from putting the bike on and off its stand if they are not locknuts or the nylon or staytite part is no longer functioning.

You should not be able to run them up with your fingers. If they are not holding then it's time to replace.

I'm thinking the nylock nuts are finished. Anyone know the thread pitch for those?

I hope they are not UNF since it's next to impossible to find UNF in this bloody city of mine.

Thanks Coco. Will check it out. My bike is a 71, not sure if that matters. Will look for it. Thanks!

Thanks L.A.B. Actually, I think I may actually have the wrong spring? It just seems too long to actually connect with anything. When I look at the picture of in the Tech Digest, for example, the upper and lower "arms" of the spring seem nearly equal. Mine has a very long arm and a much shorter arm. I do believe there is a place to hook it onto the left cradle if the spring were shorter.
