Well you know about my Normandy ride last weekend,another great thing in France is that it’s daylight till 10.30pm atm,this two pictures were taken this time last Sunday,back to Pegasus Bridge ,road closed due to local marathon & live band was playing ,weather held & great atmosphere ,50 mile ride on the 961 bout to begin,one passer by spoke to me about the norton “ I’VE SEEN THESE ON THE STANDS AT SHOWS BEFORE, BUT NEVER SEEN ONE ACTUALLY BEING USED ON ROAD LET ALONE ABROAD .” We’ll you have now I replied

I was standing on that exact spot a week earlier
 
There was a 961 at the Winthrop " Over the Pass" Rally this weekend.
Very nice looking bike, other than those massive silencers which look totally out of scale on there.
I understand there are multiple fixes for that.
It rattled and crunched when it ran, but as far as I know it did not break down.

We need to arrange a meet up so we can compare noises.

It’s the primary case that emits a noise on mine that I don’t like. But the factory say it’s fine. And others do sound the same!

Is this a constant noise or variable? Very, very occasionally when accelerating I get a noise from the engine like a bucket of bolts being emptied into a cylinder lawnmower. The bike is running like a dream at present and I have been getting this for quite a while so I'm assuming there's nothing fundamentally wrong but the automotive hypochondriac in me would like to know.
 
My noise is more at low revs / tickover. And only when warmed up. It sounds like a dry clutch Ducati kinda noise but no where near as loud.

My solution thus far has been to ride with my dry clutch Ducati mounted mate, mine sounds fine then!

Hi Mr Eddie, I'm only in Didcot so would be happy to meet up some time. I have a Cali with long silencers though...
There's a small classic car / bike meet at the Bell in Aldworth on Sunday June 30th

Nothing wrong with California’s. But long silencers...

But yes, we should try and meet up. And soon! We’ve got Ben who lives near Oxford too.

Can’t do owt this coming weekend though as I’m chocka with kids events etc !

Just another part of the 961's classic mystique.
Totally understandable why owners of other machines are jealous.
If your engine is completely silent, how will you know if something is about to break?
