Is there somewhere that the excellent pictures of peoples builds, and the pictures kindly submitted, to answer the questions of people like me (Commando novice) end up? Or do they stay with each subject?
The quality pictures I see are a huge help, and if they were together somewhere on this site, they could flicked through till I found the section of the bike I needed.
Regards Graeme

Don't get me wrong here, I'm not asking someone to do this, as I realise it would be a huge task.
I just wondered if the pictures submitted went into a file somewhere that was accessable easily.

graeme.

I think I suggested a Build/project section quite a while back, exclusively for project build threadds with photos and narratives.

I think it would be a GREAT idea.

Adding a photo section or sections where members can show their bike pictures has certainly been suggested a few times before, and I did approach Jerry to get his views on this subject, but he wasn't too enthusiastic about it at the time, due to the amount of work needed to set it up, and also because of the amount of bandwidth a photo section would use.

I think a new forum section just for project documentation would be more than sufficient. People can link the pictures from other photo hosting sites as they do now.

A new forum section is not that big of a deal in phpBB. Takes you longer to decide the name of the section than actually create it. :D

I wouldn't mind a mechanical picture section either for different areas of maintenance...kind of like an updated online workshop manual.

i.e. a step by step picture to replacing rear iso's without removing the motor!

Now that there are well over 1000 members here, it may be time to add a picture gallery, or a tech section.
the Speed Triple Forum I belong to has about 25 different boards, including a picture gallery. Like this forum, members are mostly US, Canada, England, Oz, and Europe, along with a occasional Kiwi or South African. Being a 'hooligan' bike forum, there's a lot of profanity, vulgarity and name-calling over there, too, but its all in good fun.

Initially, there was only one board, but as the forum grew, new boards were added. I think the big tipping point was when membership went from 300 to 1000 in a matter of weeks, then came the proliferation of boards.

BillT,

That wouldn't happen to be theSpeedtriple.com, would it?

I joined a few weeks ago. :)

Great idea for the build pics section. I put all my odds and sods pics on a freebie photobucket account, it'd save Jerry the bandwidth I guess, just post the image link to the thread and make a point of remembering not to delete them.

Just a thought..

Cheers

Yes, that's the place. Rude, crude, lewd and politically incorrect, but a great bunch of people.
