Bike not starting

Took my 2017 SF to bike meet on Tuesday. Took off battery tender, bike started and rode the 25 miles to the meet. When it came to riding home, hit the started button and just clicking. Called out recovery and when the connected battery to a booster, it turned over, but didn't start. Had to have it recovered home. Tried charging the battery at home, but when tried to start it, just the clicking. Assumed it was a weak battery so ordered another, charged, fitted, but still just clicking.

When I charge the battery it shows 12.9v. Manual says it needs 12.6v so should be ok. Also as euro 3 I've removed the plug from the headlight so i can switch my lights if so they don't draw any current. There should be enough power to turn the starter motor.

Also tried putting in gear and rocking bike incase the starter motor isn't lining up.

Is this a known problem? It's sounding like it's something to do with the starter motor even though it turned over on the button when a booster was connected.

Just to add, my SF was registered in September 2018. Had it's first service in April 2019 and has done 1300 miles.

Check the battery cable connections and grounds at motor . When the booster is used , where are they hooking up ? What is clicking the starter or the start-relay ? Maybe the relay not pulling in down to the starter ? With a meter check that when the starter button is pressed you are getting full voltage to your starter . This will be the small wire on the starter , put your lead there. Also make sure that your main fuse (30A) under the tank is in tight and secured with a zip-tie. Check all your fuses while you are there.

It's a fast click-click-click. I not sure but think the relay. Booster earth was connected to engine.

Will do your other check .

Is it still under warranty?
You are not far from Norton HQ, get them to sort whilst you still have the warranty available.

If you bridge the 2 high current terminals on the starter relay and the starter spins then the relay is toast. The clicking is the internal high current switch activating but if the contacts are burnt then no current is passed to the starter. Other modern bikes suffer from short lived solenoids and there is a 150a rated Yamaha solenoid which works and with thicker cables will reduce voltage drop, beware of Chinese rip off's of this relay.

If it's simple I'll try and sort it otherwise it will be back to the factory.
For me this fix was a new and upgraded starter motor fitted under warranty, if you have any difficulty advise Max that Prime Factors have made this swap for other customers with good results :)

Mine did this "click-click-click" after a week in the garage just sitting, I just had to charge the battery with "Battery Fighter" trickle charger. I'm assuming my battery is on the weak side as I know the bike sat for 2 years so had planned on replacing in the near future.

To note: The Battery Fighter on mine was fused at 3Amps as the charger was 750milli amps, I blew mine as my Victron charger on low was rated at 4Amps.

Check you get lights on your Battery Fighter if that's what your using, RED is charging and GREEN is maintenance mode once full charge is achieved. No lights and I reckon the fuse is blown and your not charging.

Newish bike then . He Should bring it back to Norton so they (Norton) can see what problems are coming up with their bikes.

Rang Norton today. Mechanic was supposed to ring me back, but hasn't. Will chase tomorrow. I'm hoping they can collect it as only down the road in Derby. If not, not sure how to get it there.
