961 not starting after winter layup

My bike has 4 in the fuse box and 2 under the tank. 6 total should get it done .
Hi all, I've ordered a couple of the Honda ones, so will let you know how i get on with them!

I ordered them from David Silver Spares and the part number is 38502-MCS-G01 in the UK.

My bike is a 2018 50th anniversary edition Euro4 bike and has two relays under the tank and two under the rear seat hump.

2016 Sport I have 7 relays 2 under the tank 4 in the fuse box and 1 to the left of the ecu. I am trying the Hella relays found a cheaper source 5 relays for £32:41 with delivery. LVW group in the north west.

OK if you installed a new battery and it ran fine prior to that, did you examine and trace all the wiring under the tank? One lose wire is all you need to kill the ignition spark

Have you checked in the inside the grey plastic fuse box ? There is 4 relays in there . I think you made a good choice with the Omron Honda relays.

Hello Dodgy , You have an OMEX Euro 3 bike ? This brought in an additional relay (power down relay) . The SC bikes don't have this. If I understood correctly (info from SCS Delta) the newest 961 (Euro 4) may have a different OMEX ECU still and this functionality was brought into the ECU on those. So, 7 relays on Euro 3 OMEX bikes .

Been looking for a post I saw on the forum about setting up the throttle position sensor with what I thought was with the help of a down load on to a lap top with the connecting cable from SCS. Has it been removed ?

Are you a member of the NOC?
If so, there is an extensive article from SCS Delta - including adjusting TPS in the monthly mag

Look for a New Thread It will be easier for other to find then ...

Just a note on relays - I had a main under-tank relay fail and the factory sent me a replacement. Had me puzzled when it didn't seem to work. No clicks nothing despite being obviously new. So tested coil resistance and happened to spot different readings testing the coil one way or the other. Trying it with a battery turns out the coil was polarity sensitive. Not a direct short one way so don't think it was a straight diode directly across to catch back emf but the loom wiring presented the coil supply the wrong way round. Maybe there is a standard but don't know. Reversed the loom cables and all good.

It sure sounds like the diode to me . Look at this relay drawing :

What was strange was that it didn't blow a fuse when connected the wrong way so I dunno - perhaps diode in parallel with coil plus series diode???? If I was making them I'd be worried that with just a parallel diode the uneducated might wire them in the wrong way and burn out wiring.

Got an answer for you about why the relay didn't blow your fuse when coil leads were reversed . It looks like the diode just means polarized , so relay won't work when polarity reversed . The surge suppression show a 1.1K ohm resistor in parallel with the coil not a diode ..

Ahh thank you I like to understand things. The inline diode stops back-emf and of course a resistor is cheaper than a diode.

Hi. I wondered how you got on with the Honda relays. (part number is 38502-MCS-G01) from David Silver Spares did they work OK. I have a relay problem i think as well. I have the same bike as you a 2018. Thanks.
