How to start a 961 with flat battery with car jump leads
I’ve my pal with the Roadking to thank for this,he left his lights on accidentally overnight & his battery was totally flat first thing today,as luck would have it a travelling pair of military reinactment enthusiasts when on hand with a generator & leads, despite being connected to the Harley for 25 min the bike was having none of it .
So a pair of jump leads appeared from local garage & bingo we got it going by attaching the red positive clamp to the starter & earthed out the black negative one on the engine .
Whilst waiting for it to charge initially on the generator I set about playing with my sat nav which is wired into the ignition & had my phone plugged in to the Givi power pack.
So all my other 6 mates were all set to race off & then the 961 failed on the battery front to, click click click ,so we peeled back the rubber cover on the starter motors chunky power lead & connected the red positive clamp to the shiny bolt & nut , the black negative lead to bolt nut on cylinder head, others ends to a cars battery & it started I immediately ,u can just see it on the picture from left hand side of bike
So next time you’ve got all suited & booted & pressed that starter button to find bike flat ( cause u left it off the tender ) try this method , started on first attempt.
