Bike dies at stops

I agree with Mike40M. If the carbs are correctly set the motor will need to be at running temperature before they'll operate correctly.
If you are desperate for cold idle you'll need a pair of Mk1a or Mk2 Amals or similar fitted with an enriching plunger type system.

Swoosh, perhaps consider a flexible throttle stop adjuster as fitted to FCRs. It turns a PITA job into something you can do on the move with ease.

There are different lengths and types, but I think you’ll get the idea from this pic...

On my singles I run with extended throttle stop screws, turn in 1 to 1.5 turns for starting from cold and then, once the engine warms up, unscrew using a gloved hand just at the end of the track before I join the tarmac. With the idle on the twin carbs now being set by one screw it just needs altering to make it easy to adjust using a gloved hand.

I'll put a couple more miles on it and then change the oil and call it good. Royal Purple and a fresh filter on the way.

I hadn't thought of that solution either..... Bother trying to fix everything anyway when you can sit back and look at it. Ride it and you'll eventually wear it out, but have you ever heard of looking the good out of one?

open the throttle slightly when trying to turn the brass knob, takes the spring load off the adjuster making it a bit easier to turn

Just as well not.. otherwise you'd be wearing out half your car windscreen but be stuck with replacing it all :-(

If my bike were as gorgeous as that I would just take a picture every time it dies.

I’m too annoyed and busy trying to get it restarted to worry about pictures. Put in neutral, foot peg up, kick, foot peg down, put in gear. See, not a lot of time to snap photos.

I’d just rather take photos at planned times.

More importantly, when are we going to see it appearing on the ""Cul de Sac of Dreams"?

Well, other than that, how does the motor feel since the donor rebuild?

It feels like it wants to rev more than the 4K rev limit I’ve been doing. :) I also need to recheck the head nuts again and check the valve clearances.

Other than that it’s goes just great!

There’s a backlog of videos right now but I may or may not be in that backlog.

@Mike T may know more about the schedule but it’s gotten so popular that the poor guy has just been editing away for weeks on all the videos. I hope he hasn’t neglected his Commando too much.

Luv the black inspection plugs.. :D

At least they're voluntary holes and not the other kind..... She does indeed look sharp.

I have been chasing a mysterious poor idle problem with new premiers ona 750. I can get it to run very well but the idle is come-and-go. I can have it idling well then it stumbles at the next stop light. I have done all the usual things but never considered the blanked off passage way for fuel might be a problem. Is this a problem with premiers? This has been going on for days. I have a digi-synch (which is the best synchronizing tool I've used)

Cleaning out the Premiers of production debris was the standard practice for a while. Not sure if it still is.
