Placed an order from a well known Norton vendor in the UK and Parcelforce is the carrier. Usually takes a week to get to me but been past that. My tracking number indicates the package is sitting in New York for 8 days now awaiting Customs Clearance. Anyone in the USA had this experience? :?:

At least half a dozen ParcelForce packages got to me in a normal, timely manner with zero issues. (all Britbike parts)

Yes, this happens often if it's big and heavy enough. I have recieved small part, like jetting and the like, in a couple days before from Amal.

A brake upgrade from RGM got stuck for a while in NY,NY. I made calls to get some reassurance of the normalcy of it all and felt better. You will see it soon.

Yes happens. Im in NYS but they shipped via LAX and
it got to LAX very quickly, then sat, then no tracking
info at all. Finally appeared via FedEx.
This seems to be something new, in the past stuff
just zipped right over.

My Alton E-start came from Norvil UK and was at the house in TX with no delay and no customs fee. If they even inspected it, there was no sign of it. Perhaps customs/duty is a randomly applied thing? It seems that way.

Long coffee break.

Hopefully you don't get hit with brokerage fees too. I bought a very expensive Belstaff leather jacket and had to cough up another $94.00 upon delivery. What a bunch of shit!

Sometimes you win - sometimes you lose. A lot of the parts vendors write "vintage motorcycle parts" or use the word "obsolete" in the description and that seems to help. Usually Customs won't bother with it but every once in a while you'll get hit with some duty.

Still being held. Guess I'll just tap my fingers & whistle. Any yes, not hoping there will be a duty tax collection. Never had that happen. I contacted the Vendor about my situation and told me to sit tight until next Friday and let them know of my status. I inquired twice with Parcelforce so far. This is not the Vendors fault. Thanks for sharing your experiences similar to mine.

This morning I almost had a "Pant Load" when the local postal carrier drove in my driveway with my parcel. The outer customs & postage packing slip was gone. The post office had to charge me $10.35 for handling because of this. I cheerfully paid it as it contained a new outer chaincase cover I needed to replace my dinged up original cover. Have no idea why the outer packing slip was missing. As of now my tracking # still shows it being held in New York. Guess I'll check on it here and there and give Parcelforce a run-around on "where's my package".

Chapter Closed.
