Your fortitude will carry you through.I will get there no problems there I want to walk and walk sooner than later, but in the mean time I am getting a bit frustrated in not able to do things like I need to do, falling yesterday wasn't good and didn't help drinking so much was the root cause of me falling, I didn't think I drank that many beers but I lost count after 10 cans, just way too much, but 10+ cans is what I normally drink when I have beers when I feel like a beer of course, I don't drink much these days but they just went down so nicely and didn't think I was that pissed, but wasn't till I hopped up that I sure was I had a few too many.
But being home and not much to do but to vegetate instead of doing things to keep me busy is hard for me, stuck in a wheelchair all day till I go to bed, I just feel so helpless and it not good for me and my house is not made for someone in a wheelchair, even cooking for myself is a task in itself, keeping my stump leg up all day doesn't help, its hard adjusting getting in and out of the chair, going for a bath or using the toilet is a major task, its coming up to 3 months in 4 days time and I have another 6 months, the unknown doesn't help as well, I never lost a leg before but its starting to put a strain on me, but I am not going to let it beat me and I am sure things will get worst before it gets better I am sure of that.
Ash
Your body was "off the juice" for long enough to make a difference....I didn't think I drank that many beers but I lost count after 10 cans, just way too much, but 10+ cans is what I normally drink when I have beers when I feel like a beer of course, I don't drink much these days but they just went down so nicely and didn't think I was that pissed, but wasn't till I hopped up that I sure was I had a few too many.

Thanks Rob, things are starting to look up as Virginia is now coming with us up to the hospital on Wednesday, her boy friend told her she has to do what is best for mum and myself and can't do both, has given her something to think about.Ash, you've got this far through your positivity and determination.
It's important you keep that mindset now, especially when these difficulties confront you.
Chin up! Damn the torpedoes!
Cheers mate.
...am I a bad guy for thinking a 'Busa powered wheelchair?Well the wife has been home since Monday afternoon and all she has done since she been home is complain, complain and complain, that nothing has been put back it its place in the kitchen, she forgets that I been home for over 2 weeks, stuck in a wheelchair and I have everything I need down low so I can reach without getting out of the chair, she is on crutches while at home she got to wear a moon boot for another 4 weeks and not put too much weight on her banged up leg, she carried on so much she drove her daughter away who suppose to be caring for both of us, they are so alike they both clash with each other and it drives me crazy.
Well Debra can't do much and she expects me to do everything for her but I am having my own problems being in a wheelchair, although our daughter is our carer she don't live in and only stays over when we need her for a few days at a time or when we have hospital visits she comes with us, but Debra needs to learn to do things on her own without help as I have done, I have adapted to my situation and she needs to do the same instead of complaining.
More good news on my part, my solicitor, the other party insurance and the amputee rehab have all got together and have made contact to the Prosthetics company who will be making my new leg and I had to make contact to them to visit them so they can put a plan together for me to get my new bionic leg, so Monday will be going to them for a interview and put a plan together for my new leg, I will still be working with the hospital amputee rehab as they will be making the mould for my stump and they will also be making my new training leg, the other company will be making my new everyday leg once I learn to walk again, the good thing it be made sooner than later once the wheels start turning, I still got another 2 week of wearing the pressure stocking on my stump and leg as it needs to shrink a bit more before they make the mould that will fit into my new leg, yesterday at rehab I stood up again on 2 legs to do my hip exercises, because my taxi was late to pick me up I got to rehab 30 minutes late so only had 1/2 a session to a normal session in rehab, I was going to take my first steps with 2 legs again but time ran out before that happen, so now have to wait till next Thursday for my next rehab time.
So the wheels are turning but still will be about 4 or 5 months before everything is put together and I be walking again on 2 legs, well I be walking before that but to be walking un aided and doing things as normal as I can will also be up to me, I am so keen to walk sooner than later but I still got to take it slowly and not push past my limits, they won't let me take my training leg home till they know for sure I can do things without aid or help and walk on my own 2 legs, so when I do get my new normal leg I will still be keeping my training leg so I have a spare if I need it, as over time the new leg will need maintenance done to it and parts replaced from wear, sounds like working on a Norton as it gets older and worn.
The good thing the other party is paying for everything to do with my rehab as well Debra's and they be looking after all my new bits for the rest of my days as well in time I will also get a big compensation payout as well Debra, their OT rep is coming to visit Debra and myself next Wednesday to see about all our needs at home, all the mods we need to the house as well to arrange someone to look after our yard maintenance, lawn mowing and all and see if they will come to the party in paying for a new car we both can drive and mods to it.
I had a big melt down last week as frustration sets in from not being able to do the things I want, I want so badly to get back into my train layout so for the time being I getting more things for the layout and a bit more shopping therapy today I brought another switch loco for the layout so slowly building up the trains, so far 4 new locos, 2 older locos and one loco kit to make.
Ash
Ash, I've been gone a few days and had some time to reflect on priorities. I can only image what you must be going through, and even then nothing comes to mind that would be "magic words", I'm certainly no where near an expert on rehab, so THAT's out, and of course have never been in your shoe (singular, pun intended).Well the wife has been home since Monday ...
(extended drama, completely to be expected in this situation)
I had a big melt down last week ...
Hey Ash, keep on going. As far as the complaining goes, I think @robs ss had a thread on here about ear plugs? Might help?Well the wife has been home since Monday afternoon and all she has done since she been home is complain, complain and complain, that nothing has been put back it its place in the kitchen, she forgets that I been home for over 2 weeks, stuck in a wheelchair and I have everything I need down low so I can reach without getting out of the chair, she is on crutches while at home she got to wear a moon boot for another 4 weeks and not put too much weight on her banged up leg, she carried on so much she drove her daughter away who suppose to be caring for both of us, they are so alike they both clash with each other and it drives me crazy.

Most excellent - working on your trains will keep you sane. I think your Norton could use some polishing as well.Well I watched a good mate I have known since I was 15 he was a younger kid that hang around us on our dirt bike days and use to double him around as well a few of his other younger mates at the old rife range, he past away suddenly 3 weeks ago and his funeral was yesterday but was to hard for me and the wife to go to it but it was podcast on Ytube and the after remembrance was at our local footy club the Roosters at Brighton I was going down there but decided to have a few beer at home for him, safer for me as it would have been fully packed out and I would have been in to much of a drunken mess as would have been so many old friends there.
Well spent the afternoon up in the shed with the Norton and my train layout, up stairs 2 of Debra's friends were up there giving the inside of the house a good clean, although I had the house pretty well sorted they did the work that I couldn't do and they are going to come every week now to do a touch up of the housework, they are all looking after us as it can be a bit hard on both Debra and me.
As for my train layout I can't do much with it at the moment as too hard with only one leg and the next big job is doing the wiring that has to be done under the layout so thinking of getting a creeper so I can lay on my back and just roll under the layout to do all the wiring, I already have all the wiring, connectors, switches, soldering iron and solder to do this job had it all ready before the accident, the track is all laid out and the cork underlay has been done all before the accident, just got to tack the track down was my next job before the wiring.
After all the wiring is done I be able to start running the trains, I need to get a high chain on casters as my wheelchair and lower stool on casters is too low to do any work on the layout, but I so need to get back into working on the layout instead of sitting around doing nothing, have a few layout models to make and some new models on the way, I need to get busy again as sitting around is doing my head in.
Going to be a busy week ahead with the meeting tomorrow with my leg builders and amputee rehab on Thursday as well a few things that Debra has on and we both need to see our local doctor for new scrips for our 5 monthly medication, I have set up my phone for Uber transport to and from my apps but some can be reimbursed by the CTP insurance as well need to get disability tags for the cars we use so we get close parking at the shopping centres, can also get Gov assistance for 1/2 price taxi travel, everything helps.
On Wednesday we have a face to face meeting with the CTP insurance OT person to discuss all our need at home and everything else that has affected our lives since the accident, the list is growing and will be asking about a car so we can both drive to get around, see if they are willing to come to the party in getting a new car that can be set up for our needs, so far they been good at coming on board as they know it wasn't our fault at all from this impact on both our lives.
