Re: ANTI anti-sump device logic?

Oh yeah, as to the example of weak oil pump to being a danger to Commandos' - maybe ya forgot that Norton tried oil gauges for a very short while but over excited reports of zero pressure showing on hwy speeds made them quit it as > pure crank sling is enough to feed rods as long as path to oil pump not blocked too much from gravity flow. Oh sure there are those seeing oil pressure at hot highway speeds but one has a extra big oil pump and the others just ain't worn down to normal yet.

More tales of bad ju ju sold with good intentions and the emotional reactions played on to cover up the truth of the matter.

ANTI anti-wet sump device logic?

Love the action when the hook is set...

Re: ANTI anti-sump device logic?

I'll tell you what does not compute, having hobot setting the standard for the "new normal", that's what. :P

It's like saying diabetes should be accepted as a normal condition in determining blood sugar levels and we should all be lucky to be diabetic.

Both wetsumping and the assortment of available option to prevent it is all too common and the severity of the condition goes from severe to non existent. Common, not normal.

I think that you are right in the fact that people worry too much about it (wetsumping) and should be considered a nuisance rather than a detriment. But an asset? Come on, man. It's only December. This sort of topic manufacturing shouldn't come into play until late February or early March.

This is what I suggest. Get camera down there and get some facts to share. Don't be like these cheesy news organization needlessly throwing out unsubstantiated fears. :?

Perhaps the real lesson here is if you do drain your sump, be sure to put a cup back in via the exhaust valve cover to assimulate a "normal" condition upon startup. And what about after a rebuild? You better have some oil down there to pick rather than assuming that priming the pump is good enough.

We are the owners of our own fat.
