Another T120 added to the fold

Nigel, I made up the fuel lines with the proper crimp tool I've had for ages but never used. The ferrules were from Feked I think but annoyingly only worked on the fuel tap end. The slight "barb" on the end of the amal spigots/banjos means they didn't fit! Luckily I had some that came with the tool that did, but where to find more? Looks way neater than hose clamps so want to do rest of my bikes, downside is pig to remove when hose inevitably hardens.
 
Hmm can't recall where underslung mirror came from but not expensive. They look great and work really well. Did it first on a Hurricane. Don't work at all with oil in frame triumphs though, tank is too high and rear view is pants. Will send you a close up if I get time with home schooling!

I also have the crimping tool but am seriously fed up buying ferrules that don’t fit, too big / too small / don’t crimp correctly / etc.

Spent an age a little while ago sorting ferrules, fettling them, etc and making up the lines and the finished job still leaked!

Would therefore happily buy from a trusted source. I know when I’m beat.

It isn't marketed as "underslung", just a short stem clamp on style. Here's the pic:

I'm pretty sure I bought one fairly recently for my brother's oif trophy (that didn't work well on it) so can't be that hard to source? I'll ask him if it's in the pile of receipts I gave him with it.
 
On the ferrules and crimp tool, the reason I had a load of spare crimps is they had never fitted the black fuel hose I had. I decided the '68 would look nicer in clear hose. I have one of the "good" ferrules left and the clear hose was from feked. Everything worked like a charm first time. I had a leak and first thought was the crimping, but it was a corroded carb fitting. Now I have a known good combination I'm going to try sourcing some more of those ferrules. Thanks Bernard for the link.
Nigel if you buy a pre made set in clear you WILL be recrimping at some point anyway? I'll let you know how I get on!

Looks as if it could have Champion WCX600 resistor plug caps which are 10k ohms.

Thanks LAB, yes I was already aware I was running resistor caps and resistor plugs (with an analogue Pazon), so have already got these non-resistor ones to fit, not as "period" but look ok and probably more waterproof (ha ha, like I'll be riding it in the rain!)

Ok, as those WCX600 caps are higher than the usual (5 Kohm) resistor caps.

Here's one that my best mate and I sorted from several boxes of bits a few years ago. 1970 model. The colour looked a bit brighter in the flesh and it lacks twin horns and the comedy clown high bars. We did look in the parts book and see the option of one horn which we went with as we couldn't find a pair of decent windtone ones.

However, there's a sad story to it as the day we took it to be MOT tested he had a seizure that was caused by a brain tumor which killed him inside nine months. :(

Sad story, lovely bike, hopefully I reminder of happier times putting it together?

I LOVE the comedy clown high bars, but only up to about 70mph! So much more elegant than the cowhorns Meriden foisted on the US specs later in the 70s. They had exposed rear shock springs in 1970, as I'm sure you know ;)

Interesting how the switchgear on the bars misses the grips, my new bars were pre-drilled (though I had to tap them) and the dip lever fouls the grip, so you have to slice a section off the grip. My "as it was from the factory" Hurricane had a sliced grip courtesy of Meriden! The earlier bikes had Amal grips with smaller diameter grip "cuffs", so not an issue, but the later ones seem to vary in hitting the grip or not.

Ho hum, I need to get out more.

Davey, I would suggest using Tygon F-4040-A tubing. It holds up when exposed to gasoline [aka petrol] much better than the vinyl tubing typically used. Don't use other formulations of Tygon, as they do not hold up in use with fuel.

My experience with Vinyl tubing is that fuel turns it yellow and rock hard in 6 -12 months.

My condolences on the loss of your friend, that is hard to take. My best riding buddy passed from a stroke in his home (I've got his '72 BMW R75/5)

Thanks Chaztuna. I have tried obtaining Tygon tubing here in the UK and failed to obtain any that wasn't ridiculously thin walled and just collapsed when subjected to the slightest bend! Turned into an expensive failure. If anyone this size of the pond has had more success I'd love to hear about it?

How thin walled are we talking about? Perhaps I can obtain some for you, if no one over there can help. It's sold at every lawnmower and small engine repair shop around here.
