I have two sets of Amals. One set marked 930 R300 and 930 R301.
Second set R68 930 and R69 930.
So both are 30mm but what is the difference for the bodies?
Thought that the R300-301 were Premium but they dont have the removable
pilot jet although they all have the cross slot plug.
?

What’s the history of the carbs? Maybe someone removed the removable pilots ??

The R300 R301 are the generic carbs not setup for any particular application, I have a pair bought as new bodies only many years ago.

As kommando says, /300 and /301 are generic version carbs so not original.

Edit: They're '71 (or later standard 30mm head) Commando according to the Amal list although parts books continue to list 1970 spec. 930/63 & /64.

There are 'Standard' (above) and 'Premier' (below) '300' and '301'.

And mine did not come with any of the mods to suit the Commando, so you have to file the inner flanges to fit as the carbs are close together.

Well Ive had them a while so I dont recall the purchase situation but I think it a bit much for Amal to sell premiums without the removable pilot. Could they be bored out and threaded for the removable pilot?

I would talk to Burlens. I was wondering if someone had perhaps removed the pilots, if you’d bought them second hand, but obviously not.

Ill give them a call. I honestly cannot remember if I bought them new or they came with one of the bikes. Old people carry a
automobile license so they know what their name is.

The blanking screw opposite the pilot air screw is usually a modification.

(Removable plot jet carb is the PREMIER)

I did notice that the blanking screw was zinc finish and the Premiums I have are brass finish. However these carbs if not new are
very close to new showing no wear or deposits anywhere.

My R300 and R301 are pre premiums as bought in the 90,s, so r300 and R301 are not exclusive to premiums.

I've got a new R300 in the box (not Premium) with the blanked side drilled and tapped with a purpose made screw in it.
This was done at the factory.
