961 is back !

It still not too late ! The opportunities are endless , for example trade up for a deal . Or verified prevoius owners get 15% off new TVS 961. Give us something for goodnees sake , anything else is just pure arrogance in my view . Just a letter stating this to all previus owners , tell us what you fixed and why its worth getting the TVS 961 .
Good idea, but they want nothing to do with us red headed step children of SG.

Not aiming this at anyone but please don't hang draw and quarter TVS until we see what they actually do !!!
In India the motto goes ( Slow is good )

You won't rush an Indian,
Trust me I've had first hand experience in the pace of things In this land of yes yes but feck all happens,

I had to wait 7 weeks for a replacement passport after mines was stolen,
Loads of fecken hoops to jump through!

DON'T Lose your passport in INDIA!!

They should keep on producing the 961 for as long as the emissions police allow,
They will sell no probs
You should grab one for as long as they're available, for they will be discontinued in time,
In my opinion an excellent homage to our trusty Commandos, that will not be improved on!
A future classic for sure
Grab one while you can!

It will be interesting to see and here what the new 961 will be like so come on NORTON give us some more info and pictures please and an open day so we can view it. Have they managed to make the engine quieter and a regular tick over would be a good start, and are they going to sell parts to us owners of the 961.
I think Norton have already indicated that they will not sell 961 parts to owners of older 961s.
If they are going to sell NEW 961s, then they must have a fair degree of confidence in the engine modifications that the new bikes can be warranted without bankrupting the new company.

£13,995 according to visordown. Currently equivalent to about $17,081 US. That's suggested retail. Here in California, all the usual taxes and dealer added fees mean it will be well over $20,000 out the door. It will be interesting to see how well it sells. For me, the encouraging part is the possibility of upgraded spares for our current bikes.

Considering how they've neutered the V4, perhaps they'll expand it's market and make it A2 compliant? (Assuming the original wasn't?)

(JOKE!)

The good part is the price is right where it should be ! Not too high , not too low. Very good news at the moment. And if the improvements are real even better …

At least the bottom did not fall out. And the SG models will still be special like the 961 Street and Domi models.

TVS/Norton has not indicated they intend to sell to the US.
There is no indication that the NEW 961 is certified by the US DOT, or any state in the US.
And of course, will there be any Norton authorized dealers?

I wish the Berliner Motor Corporation was still in business.
Joe Berliner would probably import the 961, and spares.

I've checked and they have not submitted anything here for testing/compliance

Hard to be in a specialized brand business unless you are in a good market. Even then its tough.

Actually, they indicated the opposite to me.

I thought they had just said that they couldn't guarantee how well they would fit old bikes - new parts made to tolerance, Garner bikes not.

Their comments have been a bit vague but the gist, in my interpretation, is that they will not sell 961 parts that they have not sourced or manufactured. Fair enough. Therefore, all of the parts that fall into that category (sourced or manufactured) should be available for sale. We will not however be able to purchase parts that are unique to our machines. And there’s the rub - we don’t know which parts are no longer used on the new model.

Should be apparent pretty quicky though when we get to see a new model and when their sales numbers increase. Also, if one of our number order a part and it is refused/unavailable that will be a fair indicator. We can open a thread to record these I guess. There are 2000+ of us (prospective customers) out there in the market - once the initiate (legal stake in the ground) period is over I suspect they will become more forthcoming.
