961 Corbin Seat

Hi gents
Have been looking for a more comfortable replacement for the standard seat and exchanged messages with Matt at CNW with a view to a Corbin style replacement. Matt suggested approaching Corbin directly but obviously Essex (UK) to California is a bit far for a seat!
Anyway, if anyone in the CA area is possibly interested in a Corbin style seat - similar to MxMartin’s seat - and would be prepared to leave their original seat with Corbin so they could make a mould then it would be possible. Obviously Corbin would need this to be financially viable so ...is anyone else interested?

Have you considered repadding the seat you have? There are some nice gel pad products out there that a seat maker can install under your cover.

Looking at local alternatives on t’internet and there is a local car seat upholstery co. near me, says they also do motorcycle - no job too small - so off to have a chat after the holidays

Got my 961CR modded from new by them with gel inserts and cross stitched alcantara. Really nice guy to deal with and excellent work.

Happy to oblige. Note that since I took this photo I got the rear squab re-trimmed in alcantara with the Norton logo...

Gave them an idea of design, sent them the stock seat while the bike was being built and let them get on with it. Seat was returned directly to Norton pre bike delivery. Now done over 5000 miles with seat and backside still in good condition.

Apparently when it arrived at the factory nobody was keen but once on the bike it attracted some positive attention including the mighty Mr Garner...

I have to admit to a slight problem on the 'zorst front as I'm looking to book a track day at Mallory and it would be a lot easier to fit some db killers to those malformed nodules you refer to as silencers....

I just had Sargent redo a seat base for me. Looks stock but better foam & slightly more of it.. Don't think I can post here.

Nothing special Tony, got ‘em off eBay. Note the thread for an m6 bolt...

Here’s the open ‘shortie’...

Here’s the DB killer dropped in. I’m thinking a simple hole drilled from underneath will allow it to be secured via that m6 threaded hole.
I only need them in to get through the noise test on track days...

Totally agree. I also have my original 2016 seat re covered and jel pad added at much less cost than new seat by them. This also then retained the adjustable reinforced mounting brackets to the frame that were deleted on later Norton seats that make them very difficult to fit and much less strong. The one on our new third Norton with the new seat broke in under 50 miles . Safety problem? Like the older adjustable mount with metal reinforcement much better.
Saddecraft greatly recommended.

Hello FE , Instead of drilling your Norton Mufflers , get other mufflers ( cheaper/less expensive) that will bolt on for Track Day. They may even provide better cornering clearance . And if you slide off the track (hopefully not) the track mufflers will take most of that abuse . Do you remove the DB killer after the track day inspection ? I mean are you running on the track with or without DB killers ?

Sometimes the DB killers do seem to fall out after passing inspection Tony...

Different silencers are an option. Lot of fabrication work though, that I’m not keen on right now (focus is now on the 920). I’m actually still hoping Norton come through with the 2:1 idea...
