We are not suppose to talk about this issue in the Pictures thread so I opened a thread for it as I see a few of us are interested to replace our wheels to carbon.

What we know so far from Fast Eddie and from Vernon240 is that Norton said it’s not possible to put the carbon wheels on the ABS models.

And this from @Vernon240 helps a lot:
I spoke to BST directly when I bought my wheels. Only one style available and one of the qualifying questions was ‘does the bike have abs?’. I think the key issue is the mounting of the abs ring. It’s probably a solvable issue...just not by bst. At that point, there was a huge question over if Norton would even make the commando...and would anyone honestly bother given the highly limited market potential vs making wheels for a bike that is at least in volume production? Modifying a wheel to be compatible with a bike with extremely limited production and where the market potential is literally 10’s of Sets of wheels is hardly an enticing financial prospect. I’d also be surprised if BST enter into any meaningful dialogue with someone, even if they really really want to buy a single pair of abs compatible wheels.
And this also;
My mate Jonathan tried this and found that the trigger wheels would not fit correctly. They fitted, but kinda 'bulged' out in the center. I think it's solvable, but might need a custom ring and potentially the sensor location adjusting. I can say it's not a direct 'bolt the rings on and you are good to go' deal. BUT Jonathan is the only person who I know of has tried it..others might find a different experience.

What do you guys think should be adjusted to solve this issue?

I don’t know much if any about mechanics but what if BST will put their own brake disc with the ABS ring or taken from a bike that his brake disc with ABS do fit and we will just move the ABS connector location?
Is that possible?
And again, I really don’t know anything about mechanical engineering.

Re the front wheel: the ABS disc is so thin, and mounts onto the outboard face of the brake disc, and does not come into contact with the wheel, or effect the wheel spacing between the forks. Thus, personally, cannot see what the issue could be.

Maybe the issue is with the rear wheel, anyone have similar close up shots of the ABS ring on a rear wheel?

I have these photos. Also I will add photos of the BST Diamond TEK wheels from both sides.
I see that the BST front wheel have 5 bolts and the ABS Norton have 6.
And the BST rear wheel have 5 bolts and the ABS Norton has only 4.

Good spot, maybe the difference is simply the bolt pattern ?

Yes maybe. How many bolts on the none ABS model?

If it’s only a matter of the disc brake with ABS ring maybe it is possible to take it from the Triumph for example?

I have a UK 961SE in at present....I'll try and get it on a lift this weekend and do a comparison to a ecu 4.

Eddie, your bike is also with ABS? and are you also interested in carbon wheels?
My OLD 961 had ABS, I sold it a while ago.

I bought it new from the factory and enquired about CF wheels, I also enquired later. Was told several times that they don’t fit, but never told why, so I my interest now is purely a personal one.

As I found out through my wheel saga, EBC lists the same front discs for ALL models and they have 6 bolts. Didn't check the rears.

Is there any change from RSU to USD (the monoblocs) for the rotor?

What year do you have now?

According to EBC no. There are variants on the theme - coloured and wavy, but the diameter, offset and pcd are all the same.

So maybe just try to swap the wheels between the two will tell us everything? If the regular none ABS will fit the ABS bike so there is no problem what so ever correct?
I'd need permission from the owners first...and its when I've got time. I've got another 3 bikes being delivered this week, along with a full diary to May.....so you'd need to be patient on this.
