...my main query was with what numbers should be on the vin plate,ie the stamped frame number or the engine number ?

It should be the same number as the one on the title! (as should the one stamped on the engine)

What for Horton/Norton? The way I figure it, the father is playing this thing so the kid says something stupid in the DMV, goes to lockup, and he gets the bike. Smart guy. Wish I had thought of something like this with my son.

Darn.... another one got away.

After a few seasons, you can spot the bad guy right off. He was just a little "too" concerned, you know.

Say, I wonder if :( ever gets over to Arkansas? Just a thought.

She passed! Sorry, Herman! :p

I'll post some pics later. I won't get to ride it for a while because it needs work (fork seals need replaced, mikuni carb needs tuned or replaced with the amals, which I have, and the clutch pack needs rebuilt, just to mention a few things).

On another note, the kick starter kicked my ass. I'll just have to keep trying. :/

Just on last piece of advice young man. Keep an eye on your dad. That's all I'm saying, I'm sure he's a great guy, just don't leave him alone with your bike for an extended period of time.

LOL

It's at his house right now, sitting right next to his custom hardtail bike.. a '53 Triumph frame, Triumph tank, and a Commando Motor/trans.

He's going to help me undo the wrongs that have been done to my poor Commando, and then I'll bring it back to my house.

I still have to get used to kick starting the damn thing, for now. I got my ass kicked all over the place trying to start it earlier tonight. Of course, my dad has no problems with it..

Jordan, Glad to hear it all went well. That has to be a relief to have that out of the way, now you can get to work on the fun stuff.

Definitely. Now I can go buy [most of] the parts I need so I can make her road worthy again. She needs some TLC and some time spent removing some of the completely incorrect pieces that were installed on her. Someone clearly didn't know what they were doing when they were working on this bike..

I officially hate my state. It cost me $410 to tag and title the bike. Almost 10% in taxes..Ugh.

Looks like you have a very nice machine to start with, I know the feeling on hating your state. California is also one to suck the money right out of your wallet! :(
