Converting left side shift to right side is easy.

Converting right side shift to left side is NOT so easy!

The thick (for the 4 friction plate clutch) pressure plate is also missing.

Yes, except they have a couple of extra holes in them and the right-hand footrest assembly is attached to the plate with bolts instead of studs and nuts.

Got it. Thanks so much. Not sparking a buying spree. I like the idea of looking for parts that are compatible but also upgrades as I do the rebuild. As long as they are Norton or British parts then I don’t mind if it isn’t 100% stock bike

i'd go as cheap as possible to get up & running, or deep going over, then go from there, cheap borescopes allow a good quick look inside, plugs likely have a story

cheap whole jap (prob even newer britt) front ends abound, mostly way better than stock etc

ton of conversion/swap info out there

prob an easiest known quick swap, similar look, done awhile ago by gp is a yam xs650 front end

Prime example of why one should Always Check Andover First: the diaphram spring the Ebay seller wants $39 for is in stock at Andover, correct part for 68-70, for $58. Built to correct tolerances, no rust or other issues, and probably superior metallurgy.

taking out the red leaves a simple outline leaving most of the details

might as well be a standout eyesore as is, for what otherwise has been fab & the best

can't see why taking out the red would be a big deal then see what folks say

maybe a slight diff outline color, like grey vs blotchy/all over/littered with full red blocks, maybe just red outlines

How good are the Alton starter motor kits? I'm aware of two alternatives (CNW and Norvil) but I've been offered an Alton kit, brand new, at a pretty good price. I know nothing about them other than what I've read on Facebook (which tends to be an unreliable source of information). Some say they're brilliant, others say they've given nothing ut trouble. Hence asking on here. If they do suffer from issues, what kinds of issues are they and can they be avoided somehow?
Also, do they come with a modified inner chaincase or does the original have to be modified? And is any modification of the...

The detail behind it is simply the item number just like in the parts book. You click it and it takes you directly to the part. To me, it's the most valuable thing related to Norton - of course, that's just me.
