Wow! I've never seen anything like that. Do you think those Norton riders were tying to impress the sheep/cattle with their handlebars? or was it just another Friday night out in the pasture?

The latter. Six bend bars were very fashionable back in the day in NZ and a lot of the Triumph and HD riders had very tall ones.

I bought a BSA Sunbeam S8 many years ago fitted with a gold star front brake and ape hangers. The first time I had to brake hard the bloody ape hangers rolled over. Chucked them in the bin and fitted Vincent straights.

It was that long ago I paid £11 for it taxed and tested. I flogged hell out of it for a year and sold it for £35. A good old motorcycle, slow but smooth and easy to live will, I'd have another.
