A long time ago in a paddock in NZ...

So many Nortons, so many six bends

Back in about 79 I had a Yamaha xs750triple. I fella that used to run with us, had a sohc honda 750four with those same hi-rise bent back handle bars on it. We would race and he would smoke me and that Yamaha---used to burn me up that I couldn't beat him. Well... I think what really ticked me off is that I had a crush on Debbie, but she used to go with Greg (on that damned honda) instead.

I really got a kick out of all the handlebars!Back in the early 70’s we all had those pull-back bars and then would go racing through the canyons.Sometimes getting older has it’s benefits!

I kind of like those bars on the nearest bike - might have to find myself a pair ;) ;) ;)

Funny, back in the day for me - I never saw a Norton with anything but US or Euro bars. Only the Harleys had those kind of bars. ;)

I bought a BSA Sunbeam S8 many years ago fitted with a gold star front brake and ape hangers. The first time I had to brake hard the bloody ape hangers rolled over. Chucked them in the bin and fitted Vincent straights.

You'd have to mount them on purpose... Required the brake line for a Hi Rider.

So many Nortons, so many six bends

I've seen quite a few Atlas and early Commandos sold new in Western Canada with those high bars. I could never figure out if they were shipped from the factory that way or installed by distributors at the request of certain dealers.

Years ago I stuck some Z's on my 850.... most uncomfortable handles I've had, although had some on an old HD that felt good. The western seems to fit the 850 just perfect for me. NV knew what I needed in the beginning.

I think they are some of the most ridiculous bars I’ve ever seen. Or is it just me… :)
