It's time for this little episode of mistaken intentions be put to rest. Or, as we say in America "Bury the Hatchet" Whatever the issue is between you and the "GURU" it is now irrelevant and will only damage the usability of this web-site to further our P11 aspirations. I'm ascribing most of the past unpleasantness to communication problems because of language differences. So please let it drop as it is not helpful.

PS I've seen the photos of your P11 build and I think you did an outstanding job resurrecting a very distressed example. Glad you're now able to enjoy it and I like your activity on this site.

Hi.
You have right, P11A didnt have side reflectors under fuel tank bolts.
Reflectors started with P11A Ranger only.
Be carefull to say that they like you: the GURU might you excommunicate!

Here is my P11, as pictured above, in July of 2014 as purchased.

It started easily and ran well. Wiring was poor, seat was uncomfortable, very heavy vibration, missing details, tires worn,

Hi.
Last saturday i ran (4000 rpm) my P11 for 160 km.
I repeat what i have already said.
I cannot recognized more vibrations than my Commandos and they are not a great noise.
I feel much vibrations on my 1970 BSA A65 L.

Still work-in-progress on survivor bike 2. The tank will need strip and repaint on this one. Too far gone. Fork and head stock rebuild planned for October.

Hi Chris,
yes that was me having bought the 68 P11 from Canada.
Bike was nearly perfect,except a destroyed fork gator rubber and a broken badge.Also the skidplate was missing. I got all the missing parts from walridge motors.
And in the past 2 years, I've learned quit a bit about the P11's.
There were 3 P11's a an auction ,Brown & Hellmer I think was the name. 3 mostly complete bikes at one auction, and all of the had titles. I think a parts dealer from Michigan got them all.
Nice project you have now. If it would be mine, I would go for a P11 prototyp replica.

Hello,
A lady came into my shop with an extraordinary little bike. A Norton with a VIN of P11/124573. She said her husband loved the bike and after he passed she sold his British motorcycle collection all to one person but couldn't part with this one because of how much he loved it. I bought it off her because I felt an immediate connection to the bike as it was built around my birthday in 1967. She asked that I promise not to just flip it and that I continue to finish the bike build. I have done some research and I am starting to get excited, is this the P11 that came to America to race in the desert? Back in the 60's? Is this the P11 that I think it is? As a kid I loved the Motocross racing excitement and am really flabbergasted that this bike has landed in my hands. I tried to post a picture but I do not have the knowledge required to do so. Thanks for any comments as to the validity of my bikes authenticity. The avatar is my bike. Cheers

Hi Elefantrider,
Would you elaborate on your head stock rebuild? I have a P11 (122xxx) which suffered damage to the headstock during shipping. The casting wasn't great anyway (it should have been rejected at the factory), so I am looking at making all new bearing seats,
preferably for metric angular bearings. Have you written about the work you did in another thread?

Based on the Norvil VIN data base guide I looked at it is a 1968 P11A. Basically the same as the 67, but with a longer seat, chain guard, and I'm not sure what else. Looks like a nice example to me.

Ron L will tell you everything right or wrong about it if you can post images of both sides of the bike and the gauge cluster. You have to buy a membership here to easily post images, or have a hosted website where you can upload images, and then use a URL to point to them.
 
First ride out yesterday on the Ranger. This is the 3rd Ranger off the line, it came to me as a total basket case in 2002. Frame was bent, engine very solidly seized, 12 inch over length fork tubes without any spring, tones of missing parts. I’ve been slowly collecting parts for it, and started working on it a little over a year ago. The last inspection sticker on it was from 1972. Started on the 3rd kick after nearly 1/2 a century of sitting idle and ignored. You’ll notice a couple of oddities that stray from the Ranger norm, like shaved hubs and Atlas head casting, rather than the accepted Commando head casting and finned hubs. I attribute this to the “factory was using up what they had on hand” at the start of the production run, at least that’s my story and I’m sticking to it!

Excellent example. Well done!! All of it is very acceptable.

I've not ridden my P11 without rubber on the rider pegs. Riding on the solid pegs must be titillating. Enjoy, it's a beauty.
