adjusted stator plate to max retard and it’s at 38* Boyer directions say adjust stair rotor to get more retard
With the engine at 31 btdc you should be able to see the rotor magnet through the static timing hole with the pickup plate in the middle of its adjustment slots.

With respect, you need to chill a little, take your time, get this right. Don’t ride the bike until you’ve nailed this. If the figures you‘re quoting are correct you could easily hole a piston etc if you ride it like this.

Better than watching telly, this!! TBH considering the bike has a few miles without grief so far, whilst there are many valid and informed opinions here, I'd recommend following Maylar's lead to see how that ends.
If no improvement, then check whether the timing marks are accurate etc....

Yes, as it seems you have run out of slot adjustment before the timing can be set to 31 degrees then the Boyer rotor needs to be removed and repositioned.

Stock timing with points was 28° @ 3000. The advance was full on by 2800 IIRC. Electronic ignitions impliment advance electronically, and the Boyer specs 31 @ 5000.
I chilled a little...hot and humid hereI got it worked out. I adjusted the rotor and set my stator plate back to my original spot and had to readjust one degree roughly. Th e bike runs better under acceleration and no more Pinking Thanks much and sorry for stressing out....frikin heat.

I hope I’m understanding? I originally checked tdc and the timing marks per Boyers instruction online. I could see the white dot through the hole and then ran the bike. A friend holding throttle steady at required rpms...give or take a couple hundred and the timing Was showing 39-40 shut down quick.
tried to retard and got to about 36ish and ran out of retard on stator plate. Followed Boyer instruction and retarded rotor. Put my stator plate back to my marked original position and ran it and was at 31 then bumped to 30 as some have recommended. The bike runs better and and has more power. I just need to adjust my needle to take some lean surge out. But plugs are coffee brown and fulll throttle is much better.

Great to hear you're sorted... One less worry :)
Here, however, are some more things you might consider worrying about:
Engine oil type, gearbox oil type, primary case oil, layshaft bearing, crankshaft bearing, rear wheel bearing, headstock bearing. Charging system, warning light control, alternator clearance, clutch action, clutch lever, frame straightness , rear loop droop, petrol pipe colour (important that!) seat transfer colour, side panel decal orientation, frame finish (see DynoDave) Carb synch, float height, pilot jet size, the weather, your sanity, your bank account!!
OR: Just ride it and enjoy it! (It's what they're for)

Hope this is over because I started getting brain cramps when it was retarded and found to advance..... Did we wander through the Twilight Zone for a few?

It’s over. I had brain cramps from heat and humidity out here.

Where's out there?..... Not very cool here on the coast in South Texas either when a 41 year old goldwing and cantankerous old Commando are both acting up..... So far this week; Bikes 2 - Joe 0, and looks like my losing streak is on for another week due to parts.

Nebraska is hotter more humid than most think it is.

The world, - USA in particular it seems to me - is pretty much going Bat-Sh1t crazy so why not the bikes? ;)
