Hi All
Hope all is well.
I am trying to locate a Type Pump or Inflator as Norton list it in the parts manual, for my 650ss, anyone know of any repo ones out there?
I measured 14.5" between the mounting lugs on the frame, not sure this exactly right as one of the lugs was missing on the frame and I made a new one and welded it on, based on the remaining bits left.

I wasn't too concerned at first in finding one but now thought it would be a good idea after riding off without checking the tyre pressures, only to find they were a bit low, could have simple sat by the side of the road and spent a while pumping them up if I had one.

Anyhow it would fill the space between the two lugs :D.

May be a little tight on the mounting lugs but should be scope to grind 1/4 inch off one of the lugs.

I still have my original pump. The one in the link above looks "right".

The pump compresses on a spring stop to allow the ends to slip over the lugs on the frame, then rebounds and holds the pump in place.

I do not know if my pump, or my tool kit is missing a check valve, but as is, one cannot inflate a tire ...... the air simply comes out of the tire when the pump handle is extended. Anyone know if a check valve was part of the original package?

Classic Motorcycle Spares looks about right but they are unfortunately out of stock, I have sent them an email so see what happens next week.

Slick I have had that problem with push bike pumps too long ago to remember how I fixed them though!

Burgs:

A guy I know who is a long distance biker (the kind you pedal), showed me a an adapter to attach to an air pump, which functioned as a check valve. So, there are gizmos out there, just say'n mine was incomplete as I got it from Norton.

Hi Burgs,
I found the part # listed at AMC Classic Spares and Norvil. Cost between 15 and 20 GBP.

Update on the air pump:

My original tire pump is branded 'APEX'. Free length is 15.5 inches.
The distance between the 'points' on the frame mounting lugs is 14.625 in.

The pump handle is compressed on an internal spring to pass it over the lugs, then the spring rebounds and holds the pump on the lugs.

The flexible hose stores inside the pump handle.

Grid lines are 1 inch.

Hi
Thanks for all information Norvil have a pump listed but it is in the grayed out section, usually that means it may not be available, but I have sent them an email as well.
Let you know how I go.

Best Regards

Hi Mark,
Just heard back from AMC Classic. They say that they are sold out and the supplier has none. They say they don't expect any restock anytime soon.
I want one too. Hopefully Norvil has them.
