Hi All
I have a question concerning the Slimline frame. During its existence and production did it's dimensions ever change? Reason I ask is that I have been talking to a guy in the UK about making a new tank for it and his dimension from the headstock back to the tank strap fixing point is roughly 25". That fixing point has to be added to a Slimline frame as it doesn't exist. It is typically placed in line with the frame welds that join the front and rear loop section of this frame. My frame which is a 1967 unmolested example measures 23-1/2 for the same thing. Thoughts?

I've never noticed any dimensional changes in the three slimlines I've had. The only reason I can think of for that
1-1/2" difference might be that U.S. tanks were smaller & perhaps shorter than U.K. tanks. I do know that on the 1961/2 blue painted Manxman, the seat was moved forward to suit the small tank, & as the seat locates on two spikes on that cross bar, maybe it is further forward. Only a theory though.

on my 1965 ish Slimline, distance from centre of tank strap headstock hole to front of weld of rear section joint is 23 1/4 inches.

I was thinking that even with a smaller tank the dimension of the frame would be the same. Only difference would be moving the cross bar with the seat prongs. Interesting that Jan’s measures pretty much the same as mine

Here’s a Photo of the frame that measures +-25”

Your measurement is correct at 25", only the cross tube you're measuring to doesn't exist on a standard Slimline frame. The cross tube further forward is original & 21" from the tube ctr. to the head stock ctr.
