When I order from the UK, I order everything I think I'll need for a while. This reduces the pain of shipping costs. I'm going to place another large AN order soon. If anyone in the US has parts they want from AN, PM me. I'll add them to my order. It will cost you my cost plus 10% plus actual shipping to you. This will come out to less than you can order a few parts from AN for and much less than eBay. It's fine is it's one little part, many parts, or most big parts.

I like the idea ! .... but not the 10% added on .... I know you a business but most that might act on your offer are just guys trying to save a buck .... plus then they got additional ship costs from you to them ....what surprised me on last shipment from Andover was DHL collecting duty , in Canada no duty on MC parts 25 yrs and older ... my backdoor was no place to discuss ,so paid and got my package ....

My time, energy, packing materials, PayPal fees, etc. cost more than 10%. This offer does absolutely nothing for me except cause me extra work. I make more in my real business in a hour that I make in a month selling motorcycle parts. In this case, I'll lose money helping members of this forum. Several people on this forum buy from me on eBay and are happy - I'm sure they would be happier still paying less :)

Of course, I too like the Dire Straits song - favorite line: "Your money for nothin and your chicks for free"

Next time call DHL's Duty Help. My last order from Amal was charged duty - should be none to the US. Amal, with DHL's help used an invalid code so US customs chose the closest one with a 2.5% duty. I had DHL contest it and I gave them the right code - the charge was removed. I have no idea if it will work the same in Canada.

Okay , I hear you ! .... Still like your idea and nice of you to offer up this service , wish I was closer ..

I would do the same for Canadians but I think you probably would not save since the shipping from the US to Canada is expensive.

For small parts, people in the US will pay $7.90 for a small flat rate box which is what it will cost me.

I really think I can order directly from A/N, pay no VAT and get shipped direct for much less
than your 10% + re-shipping again.

Then you should do that :)

BTW, those that tell me the things they want won't know the exact cost until the parts arrive since I won't know the exchange rate and shipping up front. When they arrive, if you decide that they are too expensive, I'll just sell them on eBay - no problem.

Also, if you ever see anything on eBay that I sell for more than anyone else, feel free to tell me, I try very hard to be the least expensive. Selling parts is NOT how I make a living. I only have dealer accounts so I can get my parts for less. Having those accounts means that I have to buy a lot to keep them.

Do you know what his dealer discount is?

Hypothetically you’re looking at a $20 part. You’re going to pay that plus the shipping from the UK.

Or you get it from marsh. He pays the shipping from the UK and gets, let’s say a 20% dealer discount. Then you pay just for shipping within the US. Plus 10%.

That works out to some sort of math problem I can’t solve right now.

But the assumption is that it’s less. :D

It would seem to me that marshg is trying to offer something to the membership here in the spirit of helpfulness - seems like it would be more of a PITA for him then anything - he certainly is entitled to something for his efforts . My last large orders from AN have arrived within a weeks’ time. Just ordered a few small things that I overlooked and they were shipped airmail which I have just been told it may take up to 3 weeks. Key to reassembling my bottom end is the tiny blanking screw for the crankshaft oilway at the top of the timing side crank web / bob weight. So I turn up the patience knob a bit and wait ...

For stuff I need right away I just go to Old Britts. Since they are just up the road it just takes a day. But since Fred hasn’t successfully retired yet I don’t order stuff from them for everything. I don’t want to make them work.

I totally respect that Marshg is trying to offer a helpful service. And that might work out to be great for those wanting a few small items.
I don't know what the dealer discount is from A/N but I do know how much dealers in the USA charge for an A/N part, and it is substantially
more than I pay A/N for that part. And then I have to pay sales tax on the part (in California), and then pay for packaging, handling, insurance and shipping from a USA supplier to me. End result is a higher price. What is good about buying locally is the great seller advice and support.
Not that A/N doesn't do the same. I know they aren't the be all- end all of suppliers, but when I've had problems with an item they sent,
they were 100% all over making the transaction right with no hesitation. They will suck it up and lose money rather than have a dissatisfied
customer. No disrespect intended for the distinguished suppliers of A/N products in the USA who are also respected for their contributions
to our esteemed hobby.

The exchange rate for US buyers is the best it's been in years and if it gets a little better, it will be the best since the 1980s. Bad for me since I have LOTs of Amal, AN, and others I bought at much higher exchange rates, but good for anyone buying now. I was planning a big order, now it will be bigger still. Also, the AUD to USD exchange rate is good now too - I just restocked on Tri-Spark due to the exchange rate.

When I was younger $1.00 CAD was worth $1.10 USD .... liked going south way better then ......
