About ready to start this Norton. I received from my grandpa and just looking to see what fluids everyone runs and how to check and where to put it.
Manual I have shows 20w50 for motor oil and 50wt transmission oil for gear box.
Thanks

That has worked well for me for a fair while now .

20W50 in the engine, 80-90 gear oil in the gearbox, ATF in the primary.

And a little bit liquid courage in your belly if it your first ride out on it , haha! ..... good luck and enjoy ,you a very lucky rider to have a Norton passed down to you !

I would vote the ATF type F in primary I like the colour which makes leak chasing easier , “knock on wood” no drips now in a few years ....

20/50 Vulvaleane motorsickel oil in oil tank ATF in primary Redline Heavy Shockproof in gearbox

Some pretty extensive testing was done by forum member comnoz. The results can be found here: https://www.accessnorton.com/Oil-Tests/NortonOil.php

It ended to a large degree the guessing about what kind of oil might work well.

Freshly delivered from Walridge, Mike started bringing this over from the UK partly because of Jim's oil tests, impossible to find in NA otherwise

Now I'd use that if I could grab it without having to leap through flaming hoops in a circus. Alas we poor Americans have to suffer through lesser oils....My faithful road whore really deserves that stuff too for being so good to me...Treating me like pimp daddy all the time.

I believe Walridge ships to USA... no?

Ok so now I'm a lil lost. There's 3 spots to put lubrication? Lol

Where are the drains and fills for these lubrications?

My Norton has a oil tank so I assume that's where the engine oil goes....

Thanks for info guys as I'm a noob to these bikes.

Oil for the engine goes in the oil tank. Oil for the transmission/gearbox goes in via the round inspection port on the right side above the kickstart lever. The gearbox oil level plug is just behind the kickstart lever. It should be removed and oil added until it starts to drip out of the level plug hole. The primary transmission is the large case on the left side that houses the drive chain that connects the engine output gear to the transmission. It gets filled through a large inspection hole near the top of the case and also has an oil level plug low on the case below the foot peg, not to be confused with the center fixing bolt which is pretty much in the center.

And then there is oil in the front forks, so that is four. And then there is the swingarm pivot, which is number five, but I'm not going into that here!

PS - if the bike is wet sumped (i.e. the oil has drained from the tank into the crank case) then it needs to be drained before adding more.
