Maiden ride epic tale

Ok, second ride today. Clunking noise in the primary. I think it’s the f’n RGM belt drive hitting the primary case. I had it sorted before but I can’t remember how. Easy enough to get in there and look.

Don't say that...I've been anticipating hearing of a clean bill of health on this little beauty. Well whatever it is I'm most certain that you'll get in order.

THC helping with concentration....Bwaaahahahahaaa!

Sit on bike and begin looking around for where you parked the bugger....LMAO!

Sorry. Got distracted with the new Ikon shocks for the Interstate. :)

I sometimes forget what I'm doing, so I don't see any problems here folks.

You were safe anyway from what I could see because it didn't appear to be budding. Gonna happen though, and damned soon at that. Also the magnet makes the dust look much more frightful than it really is as I'm sure you're aware. Stuffs gonna rub down and settle. The more I see it the more I love it. Paint or no paint. Plenty of schmooze.

New plate arrived today. On the old plate I just drilled new holes in the plate. I went fancy and made a bracket. How are you really suppose to mount the plate on this taillight?

With the front pulley sorted I made it over to @Mike T house today. He’s about 15 minutes away.

Before I went over I rechecked the head torque. Only a couple needed tightened. I’ll keep an eye on the head for a while.

In case you’re wondering I had to remove the fairing to get to all the head bolts.

After that I headed out into the countryside. Just to show I could get farther than the other side of the block. I’m keeping it under 4K. Not sure how much I should baby it. (Ok, to be honest that picture was taken a couple miles from the house, my back couldn't take any more).

The next thing I need to address is the carbs. It requires tickling to start even hot. My brother suggested the float level needs checking. Otherwise it idles steady and runs beautifully.

Here in Virginia I think it was only $50 for a lifetime antique plate. But how many miles you ride it a year will cost you the insurance rate. I think I insured mine for about $125/year for 3000 miles or less. That was for $8000 replacement value. If you ride it daily you're supposed to get regular plates.

Trust me, you can’t ride this daily at my age.

There’s no mileage limitation here, but if they catch you abusing the plate they’ll take it away.

I have Year of Manufacture plates ..... must be original Texas plate, but can be restored with original paint scheme.

Restrictions are .... drive to rallies and shows, repair stations, test runs. No provision for excursions. I do a lot of test runs.

Slick

I had the option of a period plate but since I’m not too into that they would provide the plate.

I’m not sure what it would take to get busted. Maybe if someone reported you?

Looking good Dave. Nice to see the old gal out in her element....Now all you need to do is to find the fountain of youth so you can put some miles on her.
Did I already say how good it looks?

In NZ, which is largely based on UK thinking, we just drill the plates for all manner of vehicles. It is not considered abuse...

When I bought my bike in England they just drilled the plate to match the holes. When I brought it home I made an adapter plate the size of my US plate. I have since made a number of these for my other bikes. I use press studs into aluminum sheet metal so the plate sits flat.
I recently made one for my old British plates so I can put them on for the next East Coast Norton rally. I have gone to the CNW plate holder because the stock one cracked due to vibration. Watch your tail light sometime when the bike is idling.

As I remember the antique plates are for 'historical' use. Well, everytime the Norton goes out it's a historical event. But yeah, they don't want you abusing it for everyday usage.

Tell me about riding every day I think I've been on maybe 2 times in the last 3 years. It's great when you get up in the morning already worn out. Hard to get the motivation going that way.

Keep moving. Do something every day.
