3 Norton Superlights started the 2 lap race, with John McGuinness, Davey Todd and Peter Hickman aboard...John retired at ballaugh bridge on first lap (don't know the problem)...Davey retired in the pits at end of the 1st lap when 9th.. i believe with front suspension problems....BUT Peter finished a great 8th ..first lap average over 117mph from a standing start, 2nd lap 120.26 mph average...( lap record is 122.8)... I think that's pretty good considering its a seriously underdeveloped machine...and the engine didn't blow up !

I'd settle for that. Stuart G was lucky enough to be able to stack his entry with 3 bikes and three quality riders and achieved a top ten finish. These little rockets were new off the drawingboard and only saw the light of day in November 2018. Many happies and much joy to all the team, staff and brains behind this adventure.

Yes Stuart...and don't forget the Superlight was 30 mph down on top speed in 1st practice at the NW 200...AND the SL's max power is at 12500 rpm but the lightweight race limit is 11000 rpm...

I guess nothing is simple but given this experience plus 12 months development lets hope they can close that gap next year.

just ask yourself how long with their huge budgets did it take the big 4 to win a T T so well done Norton

Too bad they had breakdowns . It would have been nice to see all of the Superlights finish . This must have been a bad year at the TT for Norton . How did they finish this year I have not found anything ?

One superlight finished - 8th place.
Both super bikes were out, McGuiness before the end of one lap - bolt loose (see previous threads) The second pulled into the pits at the end of lap one.

Bad year for them . Do they dedicate a team to the racing all year long ? To compete at the TT now , I think this would be a year long effort (lots of time and money) . The big factories have large racing departments that dedicate to this. It's difficult to say the least for Norton to be competitive against the large factories.

Just like the circuit racing, there is a full programme for road racing as well. The TT is the largest event but other notables are the NW200, Oliver’s Mount, Cookstown 100 and Tandragee. Not sure if Norton enter for all but the rest do.
