Black vs polished wheels

Curtis,

I was out early today on my T100 too.
It sat the most last year so wanted to get it in shape early.
Have to de-winterize my 961, fix the leaky oil strainer 'O' ring, and clean her up.
We'll have to get together soon.
I try to go one ride on the old Bonnie for every two on the Norton. Going to try to get my original condition Bonnie worked on this year. New fork stanchions and seals, carbs redone.

This has got me thinking of going back to my black tank again.
Opinions?

Black vs polished wheels

What about your idea of painting similar to this?

I've had my polished rims converted to black over the winter break by Central Wheels. £208 the pair and the finish is excellent... they used to provide the wheels for Norton in the past.

I'm not a great fan of polishing and I think that they make the bike look more purposeful.

Is that to coat your existing rims? If so, what do they use, powder, anodising ??

It’s powder coating. They told me that they used to do all the wheels for Norton. I thought that the rims were anodised, but they said they were powder coated.

£208 to strip, powder coat, and rebuild ?

Sounds like good value to me.

So long as they rebuild them correctly that is... unlike my last ones they did...!

Over 6k5 miles now and despite many hours of polishing I find that the front gets pitted. Is it to do with the brakes?

They seem pretty round... hopefully as they used the original spokes and saw the pattern before dismantling they re-assembled them correctly! I'll let you know how I get on!
