I think the black one is his tool, that is used to unscrew the stock Norton filler cap.

The shiny stainless one is his replacement filler cap.

The description on Ollie's site says this is a complete replacement for the Norton part (not just the cap) and the length of the dipstick is the latest that Norton has. He also mentions that the Norton dipstick alone can not be used with his cap.

He is just saying that due to the filter itself now being in the air stream that overall oil cooling is somewhat improved. It certainly appears to be a well thought out and nicely made part......but in the end it is just one more thing hanging from the frame that detracts a bit from having a clean looking bike...IMHO.

The description says this external filter is to be used in addition ( zusätzlich) to the internal one. That is a bit strange as he also mentions 2 reasons why the original one (location & installation) is not ideal. He also mentions that the external filter itself is of a type which is more readily available.

The original filter is not ideal, but if left in for service, still is going to deteriorate and need changing. Overkill.

He was shocked and together with him we checked the e-mails.
All e-mails are answered.
May be you must check your spam filter or make his domain save.
I have also checked if the domain is black listed without a negative result.
It is not necessary to tell you, what he is thinking about modern mediums like e-mails and so on, the keyboard have not so much "F´s"
Please send him mail to test the problem.

Ollie makes a nice special plastic (or nylon or something) socket that fits the stock cap. That’s what I’m having. That doesn’t help anyone open it apart from me. On the contrary really as I’ll have the confidence to tighten it fully.

How about a small hole drilled and wire it on? Depends how often you need to get in.....

I got my plastic oil filler cap tool from Ollie today.

BRILLIANT !

This should be a supplied as standard in the Norton tool kit. If there was one!

I highly recommend getting one of these from Ollie.

When I put the dipstick back in, I never have a problem reopening. When anyone else does it, time for leather and a pliers. Of course now it has a knick in it.
