I need a new filler cap for my 74 roadster. Mine leaks excessively. The rubber seal is shot and the whole caboodle is kept together with a large rivet.

So I'm looking for a new one. RGM has one for £46 and AN has them for £60. I usually buy my stuff from RGM but as this needs to be a quality product (ie to stop the leaking) I will buy the more expensive one if required.

Anybody have any input please.

Riveted caps can be drilled to take a screw (or self-tapping screw).

However, the modern day ones feel a little less quality now as the originals - maybe a lighter gauge material and not as heavy chroming.

The Andover ones and the RGM ones are both the same, both genuine Ceandess.

Don’t feel tempted to buy the locking cap, unless your filler has the cutouts for it!

after the fact, but maybe for the next guy - just bought a CEANDESS CHROME FLIP TOP FILLER GAS CAP 06-0681 060681 for my Mk2 - fleabay (britispares) $61 (USD) shipped....
 
Just to add to this, I tried the ebay flip up which didn't clip down when fitted, bought another cheap one with the same result.
In the end I took the tank to Norvil spares and they fitted it there and then to check all was ok and it was.
