Emgo pistons

Emgo pistons are JCC pistons. Just re-labeled. They are excellent. Jim

Chinese companies do make crap, but they also make good stuff too like the DRO glass scales I just added to my Bridgeport, you just need to find the good suppliers.

SOME Chinese products ARE crap, but some are excellent and there's everything in between. They are getting better overall, you just have to keep your eye on products of unknown quality. I think the EMGO pistons have proven to be quality items and as long as they are equipped with Hastings rings, I have heard of zero issues.

tiwain is NOT the same as china. there is some of the highest qualty stuff made in tiwain.

Yep, some China stuff is crap. Like some of the knockoff carbs sometimes sold as Keihins.

But if you want decent stuff from China -it is available also.

JCC/Emgo pistons are used by several OEM manufacturers including Yamaha and Subaru.
They have been the most consistently sized piston I have ever fit. They seldom even vary by .0001.

I would check the fit of the snap ring however. Some of them are a loose fit and if they are used that way they will eventually come out.

I keep a supply of heavy duty snap rings here to supply with the pistons I fit.
Part number HO-68SS

Just to clarify, is that part number a Norton part number? It did not come up when I typed it into Andover Nortons site. Am I correct that this is a piston ring number? Perhaps a Hastings number? Any preference of wrist pin circlips to use with JCC [Emgo] pistons?

Thanks LAB.

McMaster- Carr has them in stock as does Rotorclip -who makes them.

There is a lot of cheap crap coming out of Chinese factories because that is what a consumer driven economy wants. When people shop via the web and the first thing they check is the price and how fast it will arrive, what do you expect?

Now back to our regularly scheduled programming...

Comnoz says “check the fit of the snap ring however. Some of them are a loose fit and if they are used that way they will eventually come out.”

Danno says “As long as they are supplied with Hastings rings”

I’m hearing that Emgo/JCC piston sets come with clips that come loose (damaging your cylinder) and rings that should be replaced.

For the record – I never said anything from China or Taiwan was “crap”. Those comments are in the posts above.
