Emgo pistons

Shopping online does not necessarily mean buying goods made in China. In fact, many manufacture’s websites will state origin of the product.

I say this to our American members: If you buy Chinese made when America made is available, I think you have holes in your head. I see more and more American companies marketing their Chinese made goods for nearly what the American made product sells for. Did you notice Aerostich now sell their suit for the same exorbitant price even though it’s now made in Vietnam? I avoid companies such as that like the plague.

Getting good value for my dollar is important to me. Is there an American made Norton piston in a similar price range to the Emgo/JCC pistons? If there is then I missed it in my own search.

I have to agree, but there are no cast pistons made in America for a Norton. Jim

Jim, I’m aware of that. My point was to disparage those who pass up domestic goods to save a couple of bucks. When the widget plant closes in their hometown do you think it finally sinks in?

Emgo/JCC pistons do not come with rings included.

I don’t know about the rings but the clips come with the pistons don’t they?

You’re saying good things about Chinese/Taiwan products. Are there any other products, parts or machine work from China/Taiwan that you or CNW sell/use/recommend?

How did you manage to drag me into this conversation. Are you just running out of people to argue with ?

There are many high quality parts coming out of Taiwan. You want a list of those that I offer and stand behind like all of my products ? Just email me and I will let you know what they are

Someone posted that they want good value for their money. I read that as to mean to hell where it’s made, I buy whatever is cheapest. That’s exactly why we are now flooded with non American made goods and why many are working for Wal-Mart for 8 bucks an hour rather than the $25/hr job at the plant, which is now closed and moved to China. The American consumer created this disaster.

This thread has strayed far from the OP's question and at this point I feel properly disparaged by @JimC. That said, manufacturing plant floor jobs at $25/hr are not coming back like they once were. They are getting replaced by high tech automation and they are being exported to cheaper labor markets. If I spend more money on an American made product simply to prop up a business that can't compete in a global market place then I am not doing anybody a favor. I hurt myself and I hurt my local economy because I now have less money to spend at the local bar, restaurant, machine shop, or other business. I'm all for spending more money when a high quality product is available that will better meet my needs. I'm not willing to overpay simply for the sake of lining somebody else's pocket. That is a form of charity, and while I'm all for being charitable I don't often practice it with piston manufacturers.

You keep that attitude and your grandchildren will have the life style the Chinese have today. Smoke clogged cites, child labor, subsistence wages and 3 bowls of rice a day.

Which Aerostich suit are you referring to? The Roadcrafter 2 piece I bought last year was made in Duluth. Cut by Jake and Tom,assembled by Mary B and Joan and inspected by Karen G. Right here in the USA.

Matt and Comnoz

I'm glad you're willing to let me know what CNW parts are made or machined in China/Taiwan. Why not let everybody in the Forum know!

This was some years ago. I don’t recall which suit it was, but I do recall having a conversation with one of the Aerostich execs. He more or less told me I was fortunate that the suit in question was made in Vietnam. I told him what he could do to himself.

If you like supporting Americans, why aren't you a paying member of this forum? Talk is certainly cheap. Same with jseng, who uses this forum to his advantage without a contribution to help keep it intact. Just my 2 cents worth.

tiwain is NOT the same as china. there is some of the highest qualty stuff made in tiwain.
  • Yes but Taiwanese people are just Chinese living under a different political system. So when you indict Chinese products as junk....

In the past you could talk about East German stuff (theTrabant comes to mind) as junk, but everyone knows German stuff is high quality. So if you want to diss a political system, fine. But don't diss a race of people based on what their cocked-up leadership does. Everyone in the world is just trying to get by.

Is it ironic that we are discussing whether or not the parts for our British motorcycles are made in the U.S.?

So true. I always thought the buy America only crowd bought Harleys and nothing else.
This idea that all US residing British bike owners on this forum must purchase only US made parts must be coming from some sort of splinter fringe group.
Anyway, good to know that the Emgo/ JCC pistons are made well.
My smartphone works a treat and they say it's made in China! Computer too.

It's called trade.
