At least two Daytona Bike Week 2018 races can be watched live on the internet with FanschoiceTV. The ASRA Daytona 200 road race runs Saturday March 17 at 1pm EST, and the American Flat Track Series dirt track Daytona TT runs Thursday March 15 at 2pm EST.

i have NO interest in watching what has turned into a mid level club race. it is a shame what has happened to what once was a world class race get to this point.

Considering the level of investment in equipment, there are some pretty fast lap times turned. That being said, other than endurance races, no other bike event offers the distance that requires tire changes and refueling, and like a Nascar race, winning sometimes has little to do with being fastest if your equipment or team fails you. If you've ever noticed how spent GP and Superbike racers are at the end of a 75-mile flog at max speed and effort, check out the riders after 200 miles.

This will be my friend Arthur Kowitz's last Daytona 200, having raced against the likes of Freddie Spencer, Eddie Lawson et al back in the day (Arthur won the '73 Pocono AMA Superbike race). I will be on the team again.

Not only is it regrettable the 200 is no longer a Grand Prix, it's shameful that 99% of the people who attend Bike Week never step foot inside the Speedway. This was always an issue and is even more pathetic than ever now. The Main St. Trailer Queen parade is the same boring shit every year (check the youtube videos if your stomach is strong). The 200 is the last vestige of what used to be a fantastic week not only at the track, but on the street as well. It will be missed.

And the Daytona TT AFT race, which was panned in it's inaugural '17 event due to the hairpin turns at each end should be much better this year with the track now encroaching onto pit road to eliminate the hairpins and substitute 40-foot radius banked turns.

there a lot of reasons I no longer enjoy the daytona track. IMHO the friday races was one great day with the two 50 mile qualifiers and pro twins. than sundays 200. first the AMA screwed the pooch with kicking out AHRMA and the changes to friday than trying to make it a night NASCAR race. after AMA got done with there mess they sold off the road racing side. now instead of daytona working with a viable org they instead work with a small club. in the years i WAS going the track they acted like all they wanted was your money. the facilities got very run down and it took them forever to reinvest in up grades. another thing that i liked was the dealer trade shows in the 70s along ocean front. like you i have NO use to go down town to the loud pipes and fringe parade.

PS you going to nortona??

Thanks for this. It appears I can watch it without a proxy server. Daytona always interests me - I am afraid of big race circuits. Doug MacRae's' crash there horrified me.

Maybe don't cut off your nose to spite your face. As I recall, watching last years 200 was pretty entertaining. Nothing better than a good motorcycle race, even if the riders up front aren't household names. That is still a very serious test of riders, crews, and machines, and those front runners were good. Maybe if they've learned from their mistakes and fans start trickling back, it will get better and better again. That approach is working with the dirt track series.

The fanschoice web site doesn't seem to list any Daytona bike races except the flat track (AFT) race on March 15. I don't see anything for the March 17 road race. Am I missing something?

I think the 200 info will show up closer to that date. I got the news about the 200 being on FanschoiceTV from the latest (2/12/18) ASRA/CCS news letter.

I hope to get by there, but I'll be on a borrowed bike of currently unknown manufacture, not a Norton.

2 wheels of ANY brand or 4 don't matter just show up

Thursday is the day to haul the racebike and equipment to the track, get credentialed and get set up for Friday practice/qualifying. Once we're ready for tech inspection, I should be able to sneak out.

Sorry I couldn't make it to Flagler. Our crew chief was otherwise occupied, so I helped get the bike through tech, which took another 2 hours. We were 5 lbs over minimum weight with 1 gallon (7lbs) of fuel which would have been 2lbs under empty, so weight was added to preclude possible DQ.
